Wait a minute. I thought star players are expected to get star treatment and coaches don't dare opening their mouths for fear of offending the star's sensibilities and stealing his mojo. What's happening to the world where Thibs can get away with this "coaching" thing?
This article illustrates a key reason why the Bulls have surprised the NBA world this season. In the NBA, key players have to permit their coaches to coach. When they do, those well-coached teams tend to surprise folks. Skiles did it here until Wallace didn't let him anymore and then the team sucked. Skiles went on to Milwaukee and surprised everyone...for a while. David Robinson and Tim Duncan let Popovich coach the team. MJ bought into what Phil was selling...eventually, so did Kobe. Never change, Derrick.
A lot of star players are gnashing their teeth -- the "star player" racket has been exposed! Not really, I'm sure. People will still bend over backwards for the stars, but DRose's attitude and desire are very much a refreshing change of pace!
Rose is still young and on his rookie contract and Thibs is a first year coach. I'm not sure Thins gets away with this kind of thing in 3-4 years.
