Just curious if anybody here has any actual experience with the topic - personal or family member.

In brief, the arthritis in my spine has gotten so bad that the Doc has recommended I regularly use prescription pain pills. I *really* don't like that option. They knock me out so bad I slept right through the SA game the other night!

I've talked to severe arthritic patients who say that use of a pot vaporizer before bed has allowed them to at least sleep through the night without pain meds. I am to the point of seriously considering the option.

Any (serious) feedback would be appreciated.

It wasn't for medical reasons.. but marijuana vaporizers are awesome. That is a much better option than prescription pain pills. I think you should at least give it a try.

+1 If you could afford it you might want to look into a volcano

at least a regular vaporizer (example only, price should be around $130)

Pros: way less toxins in vapor than smoke, more efficient THC intake, less cough, better flavor

    Cons: initial cost

I have an ex brother in law who can't get enough of weed. So, once we had medical maryjane, he went to a doctor, stated he suffers from headaches (a lie) and now he grows it and stays high pretty much 100% of the time. He also got an attorney to tell the Social Security administration he suffers from fibromyalgia (it's a phantom illness that doesn't exist) and new he gets $1600 per month and stays high all day.

    He's sure happy.

I've met plenty of people who have had a lot of success with medical marjiuana dealing with chronic pain. I would try it at least. Have you ever smoked before? Everyone reacts a little differently to it, so it depends on if you can handle being constantly high instead of in pain. I've smoked weed off and on since I was 16, and there's no way I would get medical marijuana for pain. It just doesn't work that way with me. So, make sure you know how it's going to affect you before you go through the hassle of obtaining a license.

If you do end up getting it, I would definitely recommend a vaporizer or making edibles.

if a drug works for you, I wouldn't be concerned about whatever taboo is associated with it. You can try pot without a vaporizer and determine whether it will help you sleep through the night. If it does, the vaporizer is less taxing on the lungs. If you buy the vaporizer and later decide pot isn't the thing for you, I'm sure craigslist can help you out recovering most of your purchase

I'm hardly advocating as pot is not helpful for me getting a solid night's sleep but good luck

While the idea of a personal vaporizer sounds cool that product I dont think is for the OP...

    1. He isnt a stoner, this is for pain relief, not the stoner on the go

    2. It takes batteries which dont last long and are annoying to buy/recharge. I assume the OP will be using weed at home, with plenty of plugs around

That product has its place but I dont think its here

I am by no means a vaporizer guru but I will vouch for the one Ive been using. My roommates vaporizer has been used A LOT for 5+years.

I just checked the brand and this is the exact one from the "authorized dealer" (for whatever thats worth: http://www.vaporwarehouse.com/vaporbrothers-vaporizer.html
There is no digital temp readout but once you find the correct temp there is never a need to adjust....and that temp is achieved when the notch on the black dial is at 11:30 :)

Ive never seen that glass bowl thing they include with it, Ive always used the hose.

For the OP, if you choose to go the vaporizer route get a metal grinder (instead of plastic) so the spikes dont break if you put in too big of a nugget. Like this one

    For your purposes OP:
Get no grinder if you plan on just smoking
Get a 2 chamber if you plan on strictly vaporizing
Get a 3 chamber grinder if you plan on vaporizing and smoking (it collects keef, that lesson is another day)

I highly recommend the Chromium Crusher if you're looking for a grinder. Cheap and from a reliable source (Amazon).
