Are they still a thing to be mocked by the Democrats now that Chimpy McFlightsuit isn't President?

That 60,000 people willingly applied for a job at McDonalds is sad commentary indeed. :sigh:

Normally, Americans wouldn't want those jobs and we'd have to allow human trafficking of illegal aliens to fill them.

I love McDonald's as a training ground. First, it's hot, sweaty, hard work for not much pay. You look at other jobs you have and say, "Well, it's better than Mickey D's". Second, those places are well-run (as long as they follow the manual). If you keep your eyes open, you can learn a lot about how to run a process business. Third, they promote from within and are willing to give franchises to people with experience working there equal to people with what some would consider "higher" experience.

I'd be happy to see my son one day work there while he's in high school.

The article didn't say the applicants were Americans, did it?

Its pretty scary. That's like 4 per McD's.....imagine...i can see 50-100 applicants for those 4 positions, for which is a low wage, very low skill job that has no prestige.

There's prestige and honor in honest and legal work. We Americans seem to have forgotten that idea.

    How true.

But I also agree with maxiep in that it's honest work for honest pay. And that teaches character.

I know you're just putting on an act, but you couldn't be more wrong about McDonald's processes. Their food may not be any good, but their processes are the gold standard of food production.

Their processes are fine and the way they have one person do one thing over and over again. Their food practices aren't. The quality of their food is pretty bad. I can't stand fast food, personally. I worked in fast food in high school (Sbarros in the mall food court) and it was a good work experience.

Just saying that I don't support a company like McDonalds hiring more because I believe they are a bad company. Pushing crappy, processed food. Give me burgerville.

In this economy, I'm glad any firm is hiring. There are plenty of places I don't shop, that doesn't mean they're crappy places to work.

I never said it was a crappy place to work. I think McDonalds contributes to the overall laziness of sloth of america. Not the workers, the food. The whole eating in your car, I'm too lazy to cook real food or go to a real restaurant.

i know its capitalism at its finest. shovel crappy products to the masses for a low price. kind of like walmart. I hate that fucking store too. but stupid americans continue to like that lifestyle I suppose. just a reminder of how shitty the people of this country are.

In your mind they're "shitty" and "stupid", when all they do is make different choices than you do. I wonder what those "shitty" and "stupid" people would think of your lifestyle and your choices?
