Seriously never would have thought the Thunder could ever hope to be a 3rd seed, but they can if they have 1 win and a Dallas loss. And this playoff picture isn't even far from over either. Denver plays Thunder twice and could lose both of them. That would put them at a 32 losses. Another loss and Portland wins here on out; they could be the 5th seed.

Also, if Dallas drops to 4th and we move up to 5th, then we could still meet Dallas in the first round. Regardless, this has been some of the most exciting b-ball I've seen in a long long time. So close in so many ways. Every game is a MUST WIN!

Very close and exciting indeed . . . but we can't even hang onto the 6th seed as of right now and the way Denver has been playing, I don't see us sniffing the 5th seed.

Well going even further. Denver could drop to 6th or seventh with 2 losses to thunder and another loss to another team. If NO and Blazers win their remaining games; then NO becomes 5th, Portland 6th and Denver 7th. WOW!

I can't express how much that loss to the Warriors hurt us.

I think that any Laker-hating Blazer fan's dream would be this: Portland at 5 against the 4th-seeded Mavs, with OKC at 3 on the Lakers' side of the bracket, and Denver & Memphis at 6 & 7 (in whatever order). All the teams that the Lakers should fear on their side of the bracket, and only teams we can beat on our side.

    #4 Mavs
    #5 Blazers
    #6 Grizz
    #7 Thuggets

I kinda blew it off after the game, but looking at the standings today, we really fucked up.

Yep this is my dream seeding. We really need this to work in our favor cause by the time we reach the WCF, we could build enough confidence for the Lakers.

Unlike the Blazers, you blew it off after the game. They blew it off sometime in the 3rd quarter.

Nope--not possible. Grizz can't pass Denver. If they win out and Denver loses out, they end up tied and Denver has the tie-breaker 2-1. Also, only way we pass Denver is if we win out, which means Griz get one loss putting them behind Denver.

Best case (IMO)--We win out, Denver goes 1-3 (no way they lose to the Wolves), Memphis goes 3-1, and NO goes 1-3 (beating either PHX or UTA, but not both).

    5. POR 49-33 (31-21 conf)
    6. DEN 49-33 (29-23 conf)
    7. MEM 47-35
    8. NOH 46-36

I don't see it happening (I'm sure the Nuggets and Hornets go at least 2-2, and I doubt we win out), but it sure would be nice.

No way they lose to the Wolves? SHit I thought there was no way they win @ LA and Dallas!

I thought it is first the season series, then division, then conference? Are you saying that Portland and Denver have the same division record?

Wait maybe the division is for only the division title, not the seeding.

You're right that division comes first when the tied teams are in the same division--I overlooked that in my breakdown. In this scenario, Denver would be losing games to OKC and UTA, dropping their division record to 9-7, behind Portland's current 10-6. So, same result, different reasoning. To quote Maxie--Thanks for the correction. Repped.
