Here at the RG working this game for FOX. Locally it's tape delayed til like 9:30 I believe. Couple of these foreigners look tough!
He's deceiving. You think you're posting up a 6'8" guy but with his wingspan it's like going at a 7'1" player.
Biyambo Mutombo is raw but looks like he can be a terror on defense in the NBA. Work your magic, Cho! 'Bebe' the 6'11" kid from Brazil looks like he's at least a half-decade away from making an impact in the NBA. He's nowhere near being ready.
Edit: My response below assumed you meant he'd be drafted somewhere between the 21st and 26th pick in the upcoming 2011 NBA draft. Upon rereading your post, it made me wonder if you are referring to his age. Please clarify. Smoke screen. This kid will go in the lottery, probably top 10. Yeah, he's raw as hell, but his shot blocking instincts and athleticism are incredible. 4 days ago, draftexpress.com had him penciled in at #18. After his performance at the Nike Hoop Summit, they have moved him all the way up to #7! Word is out. This kid is improving rapidly and flying up the mock draft boards. As I mentioned in one of the other draft threads, as a raw, inexperienced 18-year old he's averaging 5.1 REB and 2.3 BLK in only 17 MPG in the ACB League - probably the second best league in the world. That's 4.87 BLK/36. Since they started keeping blocked shot stats in 1973-74, only four players in NBA history have played at least 17MPG and average more than 4.87 BLK/48. Manute Bol did it 6 times, Mark Eaton 4, George Johnson, twice and Tree Rollins once. Yes, I know it's not the NBA, but he's an 18-year old kid playing against grown men in the ACB - and he's so freaking raw, he will only get better with more exprience. And, he's one player whose draft position may actually be helped by the impending lockout. He's under contract for three more seasons with his ACB team, but has a very NBA friendly buyout (1 milion euros). So, a team can draft him this year, allow him to continue to play and gain experience in Europe during the lockout and then buy him out and bring over when they think he's ready. And, if he's picked high enough, he won't have to take a big pay cut to play in the NBA under the rookie scale contract (whatever that is post lockout) like international players picked in the late 20s that are locked into relatively low rookie scale contracts. It will be really interesting to see where this kid goes in the draft and how he develops. He's come very far in a very short time and is a very intriguing prospect. BNM
