PER of 1.9 in 55 minutes. Zero assists 6 turnovers 2 rebounds 0 FTA 1 3pt FG Having trouble defending Terry/Peja/perimeter shooters. FWIW, I had a dream last night that Wesley scores 30 points in Game Three.
Wes has been completely lost out there. He shows 0 confidence and is late on rotations. The funny thing is he should be completely pressuring the Dallas guards. Instead, the guards are chomping at the bit to be guarded by him now. This playoff series is tripping me out.
I don't follow the Jazz that closely - but I would bet that he had less responsibility and pressure. He's gone from undrafted rookie with no expectations, to well paid starter who has to contribute for the team to win.
If there's another shooting guard out there who is better than Wes and can be had, absolutely. Replace that guy. Jerry Sloan > Nate McMillan Rick Adelman > Nate McMillan
It would be refreshing if Matthews stepped up in the media and took some of the blame for the two losses. He's played like crap, and his team is suffering as a result. Instead, Roy is the scapegoat, and Matthews is able to fly under the radar.
Well, he's not the backup SG. He's the starting SG for a playoff team, and through 2 games, the obvious weak link in that starting unit.
Do you think the plan when we signed him was for him to be our starting SG? I'm just saying if your starting SG is Wes Matthews, you have problems. And we're down 0-2. It's too late to do anything about our personnel.
i dont think people should blame players/coaches for losses. they are just employees, blame cho and cho only
Well, IF the Blazers did know about Roy's knees, which Larry Miller did admit last summer, then I'd say that part of the Matthews signing was that he may end up starting at some point. So yes, I think that the Blazers viewed Matthews as a potential starter. Perhaps not this quickly but with Roy's knees, they had to have thought that it may happen at some point.
OK, the last time I did this Wesley responded with 25 points (I had dreamed it would be 30, but I'll take 25), so let's hope he has a similar performance in Game 6. I say that, because Matthews' playoff game, with 34 minutes and zero rebounds/assists/steals, isn't just an anomaly, it is truly one of a kind. http://www.basketball-reference.com...al=0&c4stat=stl&c4comp=eq&c4val=0&order_by=mp
And the last time people called for Roy to be benched/released/executed, he responded with two nice performances in a row. So hopefully me calling for Roy to be benched/released/executed now, after another miserable game from Roy, has a similar effect on him in Game 6! We all have to do our bit.
