    Any plans?

In June I'll be driving down to Newport Beach for another wedding and plan to stay for a week. First time driving through California from Oregon.

Staying close to home this summer. Maybe Mt. Ranier and Mt. St. Helens, or Olympic National Park.

If you're into scenery and not in a rush and what not you can make it a nice drive through the redwoods, along the coast, etc. etc.

I'd just fly there though unless you're taking a big group of people.

Going to a wedding in July (not a vacation at all really but they've got hotel rooms booked) and then studying abroad in Florence in the fall. Going to Europe about 10 days early to travel.

Going to Hawaii July 31st through August 6th. I've gone to Vegas the last three years and watched the NBA Summer League.. Doesn't look like there's gonna be one this year so not doing that. I may go to Denver for the 4th of July. My brother lives there with his wife and 2 kids.

Spain in August. Don't have anything else really planned except sporadic trips to Vegas or San Diego over the summer.

Rt. 1 is worth it if if never done before. I find the portion north of San Fran to be even prettier than the famous Big Sur section.

I would probably be doing the Oregon to Southern California a couple of times this summer.

I'll be taking the I-5 route. Have you taken either route from Oregon to So. Cal?

Yup. I-5 if you want to get there with the quickness. 101 if want the scenic route.

I've driven the I-5 route many times. It's fast and efficient, but not scenic, especially once you get south of Lake Shasta. Be sure and hold your nose as you drive past the Caolinga feed lots!

The coastal route is infinitely more scenic. It's much slower going to begin with, and you will also be tempted to stop many, many times. I've driven it a couple times, once in each direction. There's a lot of great scenery, plus also some cool towns along the way. If you have the time, I'd recommend I-5 one way and the coast route the other.

I'm gonna go to Chicago, Cleveland/Columbus (July) and San Jose/San Francisco (Aug) to watch Timbers matches and to see old friends.

I'm hoping to spend a week in Oregon. Since I live there, it doesn't seem like that should be asking too much.
