Clev is gonna rebuild and Gibson isn't part of the rebuilding process. This player would be a perfect fit for our ball-club because he is deadly from the perimeter. He would work well with Roy too, since he could actually play point and lead the second unit with Roy. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/daniel_gibson/index.html?nav=page Career 41% 3 point shooter, quick, agile and designed to play perfectly with a Roy type player. I would even think we could get him for really cheap too. EDIT: Also, he is a 25-28 minute player. Roy is probably gonna give us around that next season. Not a stellar type player, but do you really think we can get one? What I do know is this player has made it past the first round, hit the finals once, and WCF 3 times. So he is playoff savvy. Definitely not a leader, but a role player.
He's not a point guard. He's a small shooting guard. He averages 3 assists PER 36 MINUTES. His PER has never been above 13.2 and that was only this year when he was on the worst team in the league.
i like the idea....and he doesnt need to be a great assist man. just someone can get us into the offense and spread the court.
Exactly... It's obvious we just need someone that can hit the outside shot and that's it. Fernandez would work if he could actually hit a shot consistently, but that isn't the case. It's not like we can grab a starting PG, since we already have Miller. What we need is a player that actually can play with Roy and that's Gibs.
He is a PG like Monte ellis is a point guard. He would be fine as a lockdown 3 shooter on the second unit but he isn't a type of player who will ever be a starter on our team unless we have some serious issues on finding another PG to replace miller.
Didn't know we were looking for a starter. I personally think Miller will be a starter for the Blazers for at least another 2 years. This guy could be had cheap and is deadly from the outside. I thought that was one of the main things we were missing. I mean someone that can spot up, playing with Roy.
Yeah I watch it. I hope you don't think we can get a CP3 or Deron Williams. THis is a player that we could probably get without having to give up too much.
I should have clarified a little. I wouldn't mind picking him up but not at the expense of losing a shot at someone who could be a decent starter like sessions.
I can fully agree with that. Absolutely I would rather have a starter capable player than Gibson, but I just don't see too many teams willing to give one up. The good PGs are rare now and some of them have some serious issues in terms of health. The last thing I think the Blazers need is another possible injury riddled star.
I feel really bad for CP3. It just sucks that a player of his talent is having the same issues as Roy. Hopefully both players with somehow come out on top of their crisis. If only there were more players with the mentality of Roy and CP3 without health issues. Their types are very rare breads.
I would probably take Gibson over Armon but I wouldn't give Cleveland anything for him. He's really not that good, but yes we need to acquire somebody who can hit outside shots for ~20mpg. There should be a few 3 point shooters available in the offseason, even a Steve Novak type scrub would be good as our 15th man.
I think its also skill level with the Mentality. Both were on track for HoF careers CP3 may still be, your lucky to have 1 player in every draft come out with the talent they have. Roy and CP3(to a lesser consent) remind me way to much of Grant hill/Tracy Mcgrady/Penny Hardaway/Chris Webber.
I haven't taken the time to look up his recent numbers or contract status, but what about Ben Gordon?
