So give your best deal possible... Mine is (And it's a lot to give up): Portland trades: Andre Miller and N. Batum Washington trades: JaVale McGee and John Wall Hollinger has us losing 5 games with this deal. Here is John Wall's numbers: PPG: 16.4, APG: 8.3, RPG: 4.6, SPG: 1.8 Here is JaVale McGee's numbers: PPG: 10, RPG: 8, BPG: 2.4 FG%: 55% (minutes averaged 27 per game) The reason why I like this is because McGee is CJ on steriods. 27 minutes is a perfect rotation between Camby, Oden, LMA. I even look at McGee as a younger Camby type player. He definitely has the attitude to bring in more toughness to this ball club. John Wall is the curious thing. He is a scoring point, but not a very good shooter. Basically a quicker version of Miller. Sucks from 3, and shoots a dismal 40% from the floor. Thoughts????
Any deal with Washington including john wall would have to include a superstar for them to think about trading him.
I don't even want Wall. I actually wanted McGee. What about just Batum and Johnson for McGee like I mentioned above.
Alright, I got a ridiculous one for you. Portland - Milwaukee Portland In: Andrew Bogut, Brandon Jennings, John Salmons, Drew Gooden, Keyon Dooling Jon Brockman Portland Out: Marcus Camby, Andre Miller, Nicolas batum, Rudy fernandez, Luke Babbitt Jennings/Dooling/Armon(sign a backup PG in free agency) Matthews/Roy/Salmons/Williams Wallace/Salmons Aldridge/Gooden Bogut/Oden/Chris johnson Why? Blazers take on a TON of future salary. Add experienced players, but also add younger guys, in Jennings and Bogut. For Milwaukee, the outgoing players combined have over 100 million dollars in salary owed to them over the next 4 year. Incoming is under 30, and Miller could be waived, to make it roughly 22 or so. Could go lower if Rudy decides to leave for Europe. And, even lower if Camby retires. I doubt they'd do it, even with the huge financial savings, because they would have nothing to build around. May e take Knight or Walker with their pick, and a core of Knight/Batum/Sanders. It's ugly for them, so most likely a no. But they get out of those salaries they just doled out, which were terrible.
I just don't see this happening. I don't think I've ever seen any deal with that many key pieces in the mix. The last one that was off the top was Williams, Cato, and a few other players for Pippen. That took a lot of players from Portland just to get it done. We didn't trade that many just to do it, nor did Houston really want them. Just had to make salaries match. This deal is basically trading away Mil's starting line-up. And you are right about the "rebuilding" after the fact. I doubt Miller stays in that situation, nor Fernandez for that matter. Camby is a sure retirement too. Too big of a risk for the Bucks, IMO.
Miller's not tradeable, because his contract has the potential to end this summer. Only players whose contracts are guaranteed past July 1st can be traded before then.
That's only if it is an option. If it is just unguaranteed, he can be traded. His contract, from what i can tell, is similar to Dampier's from last season. They traded him to Charlotte, and then Charlotte elected to cut him. Miller is unguaranteed if waived before a certain date.
Gotcha--didn't realize the distinction. Just double-checked it on storytellers site and it appears you're absolutely correct. That's a fascinating loophole. I wonder if the league will let that continue to exist when/if the new CBA is settled.
I'm not too hip on trading Batum. It isn't that I think he's jesus or something like that, it's a depth thing. Gerry is notoriously injury prone, and I think we were lucky we didn't have to see that this past season. If he goes down with another collapsed lung or something and Batum is gone, then what? Our starting SF is Rudy? Luke Babbit? It gives me a heart attack just thinking about it.
Come on Mags, at least try to be realistic, your opening post trade is a joke and totally a homer trade - I know you can do better. Was it meant to be a joke?
LOL you're right about Wall. Honestly, I'm no fan of him but everyone else is. So forget Wall is even in the mix.
