It's not their move, it's my move. Everyone says it's their move. I think it's (mine)

I would wish that he has an injury filled career. I will wish the Karma Police fucks him hard. If he leaves without giving us anything in return. He will be a PIECE OF SHIT!

For the record, if he asks to leave via a sign and trade, I'd rather we let him walk for nothing and save the cap space. Force him to put his money where his mouth is.

I'd like to sign him to an outrageous offer, then ship him to Cleveland. And on his luggage I would write "Have a wonderful career traitor!"

I would have no problem with a sign & trade as long as we were getting quality back.

You know damn well that won't happen. But it has happened. Denver became a better team after the Melo trade. This whole thing just makes me sick. We have been waiting for Oden for over 3 years, then we may get the opportunity to and he may want to bolt? And to top it off; doesn't care if we get left behind with nothing in return? God this reminds me so much of Orlando and Shaq. At least with Shaq; they had playoff success and a full career. We've seen only 80 games in 3+ years.

I don't understand why you keep bringing up Orlando and Shaq. What do you feel Shaq "owed" Orlando? Do you feel no player should be allowed to leave in free agency once their rookie contract is up?

There is no law that forces people to stay were they are. There is no law that factors the amount of support that person has in the community. There is no law that prevents a player to leave a team that 100% supported them and get nothing in return.

Does it make it morally right? Is there a law that prevents an employer to fire their best employee that brang in millions of dollars for their company? Flipping this around and let's say We signed Greg to a 5 year 100 mil contract. Whoohoo Max money! YAY! Let's say he gives us a 25/15/3 stat line and win a couple titles! GO BLAZERS!!!! Then one year, Allen and Co. wants Durrant. Just think the stress of having to feed a 300 lbs monster is a bit stressful. So they work a deal to send Oden to OKC for Durrant and win titles, while OKC is one and done.

Guess we could just send a letter to Oden's agent... Hey man there ain't no law that forces us not to, good luck in OKC.

You never answered my question(s). What do you feel Shaq owed Orlando and do you feel that (morally, not legally) no player should leave through free agency once their rookie contract is finished?

His value won't get any lower from injuries. We need to sign (match?) him to whatever someone offers this year, get him playing, hope either he's happy & keep him or then trade him to a team that's not going anywhere (Atl, Mem? though they're doing well right now) for another youngish C. Maybe Atlanta would be interested for Horford (that's a big if and Greg needs to be playing well and Atlanta not doing well) but maybe if not we could at least package for smoove and move him a 3 way, or Memphis or something. Maybe even, Chicago, Indiana, or Cleveland for a lot of draft picks or something.

Anyways, all that to say I'd rather wait on it for now, and rather make some minor moves this offseason, maybe make a play for Aaron Brooks somehow (as our backup who splits time with Andre) or something like that.

Perhaps our pick, Rudy, & Mills for a S&T (@3 yr 12 million) Brooks? He might fit well next to Roy as a shooter off the bench, give Andre a lot of rest? Then use next year to let the guys gel and see what we have with Oden.

    Miller/Brooks (Johnson)
    Matthews/Roy (Williams)
    Wallace/Batum (Babbit)
    Aldridge/Turiaf?
    Camby/Prybilla (Johnson)

seems like a balanced group that's not going far w/o Oden, but could be special w/him (or a replacement in S&T. Turiaf and Pryz are definitely spot minute guys, but might be able to get the job done unless bad injuries and Oden doesn't play. (plus wallace can play some 4).

There is a way to do it. Sign and trades. Leaving a team and giving them nothing in return is SHIT. Drexler wanted out of Portland to play on a contender. He didn't wait until he became a free-agent and just left. He asked the team to trade him and to a team he felt had the best opportunity to fulfill his dream of winning a title. Same goes for Barkley. As much as I hated seeing Drexler go; I wished him the best. If Oden pulls a Shaq, then I wish him all the injuries, pain and depression that could come his way.

So you're essentially against all unrestricted free agency? Okay, that clarifies your position.

Usually when a player becomes a "un-restricted free agent" is either a.) the team doesn't feel they are for the future of the team's direction. or b.) The player wants out.

Now there have been plenty of times when a player "gets no love" and wants a change of scenery. And there are times when teams just can't afford a player too. So there is exceptions to this rule.

I have a question for you. Do you support LJ's decision to leave Cleveland to go to a contender?

I think it was a perfectly reasonable and ethical decision for him to make. I thought his doing a television show to essentially kick Cleveland in the nuts was remarkably unclassy, but had he not done that show, there would be nothing to criticize.

Okay, well now that I know your stand; I guess you and I can agree to disagree. Basically your moral values are different than mine. I run my business on the same precedent as how I profile myself in this forum. I stand by the employees that work hard and give them breaks in times of crisis; while I've also been burned by employees I've help through some very thick times and they left to go to a competitor after they got their feet on the ground.

I guess it's end of discussion then. I think LJ is a piece of shit, just like Boozer and Shaq. All players that their fan base fully embraced and supported. If the fans had it out for them, I would think totally otherwise. If Cleveland, Orlando or Utah just couldn't afford their stars, then I would also understand why they went elsewhere.

But do you believe there's anything wrong with either of these two reasons?

So if Oden truly wants out, you would be fine with that decision, no?

So I'm guessing, based on your "loyalty" principle, that you are against teams trading players against their will or not extending players who want to re-sign? Because, just as players should be loyal and not cut ties whenever they want, teams shouldn't do that either, right?

I would feel much better if he truly wanted out, that he would give Portland the opportunity to trade him.

Absolutely correct. I feel the same way on the other side of the coin. If a player is working damn hard for their team and trying to do the best of their ability; I feel the team needs to find a way to make that player happy in transition. Cutting a player like "B-Roy" for example would completely piss me off.

Hmmm, well my "real company" is extremely successful based on these principles. They were the same principles my father had during his time on this Earth. So I know this was more about making a point on my decisions and not a "personal bash"; I just proved that doing things this way actually is an extremely successful way of doing business.
