Jon Stewart has officially accepted Bill O’Reilly’s challenge to come on The O’Reilly Factor and debate the White House’s decision to invite the rapper Common to a poetry event hosted by Michelle Obama. The verbal showdown will air Monday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox News. O’Reilly threw down the gauntlet on his show last night, after Stewart rapped his take on Fox News pundits’ protest on The Daily Show Wednesday. Kind of dumb. O'Reilly is famous for not allowing his guests equality in debating with him. For example, he takes the lion's share of the time. Why do people even listen to him?
Not the easiest forum for me to navigate. But yeah, I'm kind of sick and tired of Jet. I guess that sort of says it all regarding that jerk. Had eye surgery today. Laser surgery for damage to my retina. They may have to repeat it for my other eye if it shows future problems the way this eye did. In the meantime, my wife is waiting on me hand and foot so life ain't all bad.
Jet is an idiot. Sorry to hear about your eye surgery. So in other words your wife is keeping an eye on you? (Sorry, bad joke) Anyway you'll get used to the format the more you post here. And when you do you'll see we've gone terribly off topic in this thread, lol.
Common is one of the most politically conscious artists out there. Poet, actor, musician. From Chicago, I'm sure that's why he got the invite.
That was right after his first album dropped.........try a couple years ago. I actually have the first release with the name Common Sense on it before the re-issue.
It's a scare tactic, used to gather negative momentum for one political party. Not uncommon among both sides. It is such a pointless issue, I feel dumber having learned about it.
I like common a lot. Don't know why Bill would object to this. Rap is just another form of art, and very similar to poetry. Sure, there are some rappers that are very mainstream and have little artistic value, but there are others who rap about very spiritual and important issues... so I don't see the problem. I always loved this song.
Fox News......reading comprehension is generally considered a good thing. And old white people trying understand rap and thinking it's all made by gangsters is pretty damn funny too.
People who condone and support cop killers have no place in the White House, no matter what the circumstances may be. Source
People have a right to their opinion as this is a free country. I'm sure if someone asked Common right now, he'd probably say he has the utmost respect for the police. That's besides the point though. The condoning of killing a cop is taking completely out of context and shouldn't be taken seriously as artistic expression is always of to one's own perspective. The invitation is for poetry and Common is one of the better lyrical rappers of our era. For controversy to stir over something so stupid is why this whole thing is funny.
