you don't think "character issues" will hurt Klay that much?

Might. But I like how he handled the situation and he seems like he's regretful. He was asked by Andy Katz about it at the combine yesterday, and he came off as a a good kid who just made a mistake.

Don't think most teams are going to fret over it, although a team like Portland might be one of the few that might.

I don't see Marvin Williams in him. Their motors aren't even comparable. Marvin has none, while Derrick thrives off his.

Character issues? He got caught with pot....puh-lease! If you had to live in Pullman for 9 months out of the year, you'd smoke the herb, too.

Smoking pot isn't a character issue.

What teams should be concerned about is his inconsistency.

Weed doesn't qualify as a character issue to me.

Kenneth Faried is only 6'7" (w/shoes) but his standing reach is insane for a person that small (9'0")

6'6" w/o and his wingspan is only 7'0", decent but not freakish like Batum or Prince.

He should have no problem defending the four spot.

For example, Paul Millsap is the same height as Faried with a 7'2" winspan but only has a 8'9.5" reach.

(5'10") Isiah Thomas has a bigger reach than (6'1") Kemba Walker.

    Marshon Brooks is a freak - 6'4.25" (w/o shoes) and a 7'1" wingspan o0

    Enes is a monster:

    6'11.25" || 259 lbs || 5.9 body fat%

    For the sake of comparison

    Oden @2007 combine:

    7'0" || 257 lbs || 7.8 body fat%

Re: NBA Draft Thread Vol. 2

Just went back and watched Norris Cole vs. Butler in the Horizon League semis. The guy is just solid.

Speedy pg with good ball handling skills. Great shooting mechanics both spotting up and off the bounce. Didn't put up great shooting numbers, but improved every year in college and fully expect to be an above average shooter in NBA. Doesn't force much and is more than willing to get his teammates involved even though he's clearly Cleveland State's best player.

Great leader. Always encouraging teammates after good plays. Does a good job directing his teammates if there's any confusion in the half-court. Played football in high school (quarterback, and is the brother of Eagles DE Trent Cole) and shows that toughness when he plays, especially defensively where he has pit bull like mindset. He looked awesome on D overall, absolutely shutting down Shelvin Mack( I know that's not saying a ton but he's viewed as a legit NBA prospect). He is technically sound and has great lateral quicks and great hands. Forced at least 5 or so turnovers in this game. Is on the smallish side, but is a feisty, hard-nosed defender and showed that he does not back down from a match-up where he might be physically overmatched in some aspects.

Another thing I like is Cleveland State runs a pro style offense and plays man to man defense most of the time which I think is important when making the transition to the NBA.

It's hard to say how much of his scoring output at Cleveland State will translate. Like I said, his shot mechanics are great, but he was an inconsistent shooter in college (shot 85 from the line which could be a sign that he still has some untapped potential as a shooter). Can get into the paint, but has some trouble finishing as he lacks the size (6' 1.75" in shoes but only a 6' 2.25" wingspan) and leaping ability to finish over decent college athletes so he must work on his floater / leaner game which he's showed at times but needs to continue to work on it.

He wasn't surrounded by much talent at Cleveland State so he draw a lot of attention from defenses and his quickness and overall speed should show even more in the wide open NBA game so I think he still has a chance to be a decent scorer at the next level.

I said I was falling in love with him a couple weeks ago then a backtracked at bit on that, but after watching actual game film on him and seeing how great he's defensively (he was always viewed as a good defender just didn't think he was this good) I'll admit I'm falling back in love.

He just fits perfectly as a back-up pg and the profile of the type of guard Rich Cho and the Blazers are looking for both in this draft and other players in general.

Has Patty Mills like speed. But is a PG that can run a team and play good D, even on the next level. Intangibles are off the charts and he plays both ends hard.

Trade up into the early 2nd / late 1st or use our 21st to trade down and snag this kid.

The hickory-high system says his closest comparison is Eric Maynor.

Though, after seeing 5'9-ish" JJ Barea destroy the Lakers on both ends of the court I'm intrigued by UW's Isaiah Thomas.

Rumors suggest that Reggie Jackson has a guarantee. I'd probably guess that it's from New York.

Guys I'm liking in this draft that I think are obtainable:

    Alec Burks
    Josh Selby
    Tobias Harris
    Jordan Williams
    Reggie Jackson

2nd round that I'd like to take a flyer on:
    Nolan Smith
    Norris Cole
    Singler

Meh, the rest of the batch looks like a bunch of bums.

Harris is a classic tweener SF/PF.

I don't know about you guys but I'm seriously over these combo guards/forwards.
