Allen has certainly been a free spender, but look at Jerry Jones or Al Davis and ask yourself if that makes them "good" owners? Maybe I'm alone here, but to me a good owner is somebody who understands how to empower their executives and front office to do their jobs to the best of their abilities and gets out of the way. If they fail to execute in a reasonable amount of time then they are replaced, but typically a good owner understands that they are not an expert scout or personnel guy and trusts his people.

I 100% agree with this. And as an owner, you must find the best management to do the job. I've been very patient with some executives and had to fire others as well. This just seems like a very warranted firing. This doesn't look like an Al Davis power move type firing. I just don't see Allen like that. But who knows...

    Clearly PA hates asians.

First he cans Ha, (the Korean Chamberlain), and now Cho.

Where is the ACLU when we need them?

When Asians are quite and speak few words, you presume they are intelligent and wise beyond their years (a Confucius thing)

Soon you learn that it is just a person who doesn't have much to say. :)

The league needs more black guys and Allen needs someone loud enough to stand up to him. It's clear what we must do. Sheed is our next GM.

A strong leader is not to be wasted. If Allen won't bring him back, then I call upon the Oregonian to replace Canzano with Sheed.

I would love to have Whitsitt rehired. He brought this franchise the only playoff success they've had in 21 years.

For the sake of argument, lets say you're right. Why would we make a lateral move and show more instability?

Most everything that is unstable has to be torn down to it's core and restructured to make it sound. Better to do it now than wait another two years and go through this again.

Yup. But when they re-structured the team they used Oden and Roy as two of the legs for the three legged stool that the rest of the squad rests on. So here we are back at the drawing board (or we will be in short order)

The Blazers are more stable then it appears. Same city, same owner, same president, same scouts, same head coach. (whether you like them all or not)

And their last two GM's have been pretty solid. Things are not perfect, but I just don't understand the up roar over this. They think they can find someone better. I bet they can. If not then they don't have to find anyone for now.

That alone doesn't make someone a good owner.

The only positive I can get out of this; (since I assume they will be paying Cho for awhile for doing nothing), is that PA will still spend money when he thinks it will help the team. So how about taking on a bad contract to move up in the draft?

The other thing is who leaked the thing about Cho wanting to suspend Roy? Who was "the well-placed source in the Blazers organization"? I don't think it was Cho, so was it someone who knew Cho was on the way out, and wanted to start preparing the public? If that's true, it seems kind of nasty.

The worst part of this Cho firing is PapaG bringing back the creepy Kolde avatar. Every time I see that thing I feel like I need a shower.

Umm, no! Whitsitt's predecssors, Bucky Buckwalter and Geoff Petrie have been more successful than Whitsitt. They won more games and went deeper in the playoffs (in Portland and elsewhere).

If we're going to bring back someone from the ancient past, I cast my vote overwhelmingly for Petrie over Whitsitt. Shit, Petrie built an NBA champion in Sacramento, with a lot fewer resources to work with, only to have the championship stolen from him by Stern and his minions. He twice won NBA Executive of the Year. With Sacramento in disarray, I say we go after Petrie!

At this point I have only two emotions: sadness and exhaustion. I'm sad at the state of our franchise which only a couple of years ago seemed stable with a bright future. And I'm just worn out with all the unnecessary drama surrounding the management of the team. For goodness sake; it's just basketball. It shouldn't need to be this hard.

You are right there should not be this much drama. People get fired every day. It simply amazes me that we are all emotionally worked up over this. We all hate to admit it, but we let the media manipulate us. I guarantee you if they completely ignored it like 99% of dismisals that happen every day, we would barely care.

But I guess we love drama. Otherise who Arnold Schwarzenegger slept with 14 years ago would not have TV shows dedicated to the topic every night for the last week.
