Looking at past drafts what prospects did you forecast correctly and what prospects were you dead wrong on?

I thought Brandan Wright was gonna be a stud in the NBA. At Carolina he showed good advanced lowpost skills as only a freshman, and figured he'd build an NBA body. That whole 2007 draft class has been a bit underwhelming, considering the hype entering it.

Looking at another thread here mentioning him, I remember being dead right on Steve Nash. I recall telling my cousin about him during the season, and then saying he would be good in the draft. Nailed it!

Was right, minus injuries, on Roy. He's the reason I'm a STH now. Was also right on Morrison.
Was wrong on Eddy Curry. I thought he'd make a better rebounder. He was always a good scorer. Just a poor rebounder. Was right on Sean May. Fat scrub. His dad sucked too, and was a waste of a high pick. Was right on Brook Lopez, to an extent. I remember saying he should go high. On O-Live, they did a forum mock draft, organized by, Casey, maybe, at the time. And I got Minnesota, and selected Lopez for them. And remember getting shit for it. They traded Mayo for Love, so it worked out alright for them, but I think a Jefferson-Lopez pair would be alright also.
I remember being pissed(lived in Chicago) that the Bulls passed on Michael Redd four times in the 2000 draft. Dalibor. Fucking idiots. Of course, I also thought his back court mate Scoonie Penn was alright.
Was a big fan of John Wallace out of Syracuse, 96 draft. Never amounted to much.
Loved Jason Kidd after his freshman year at Cal. Liked him more after his sophomore year, and ever since. Same with Bibby at Arizona. Liked them both in high school. followed them throughout.

So, soooo many more hits and misses. I have loved the draft since I was about 6 or 7 years old. It's why I took the KP firing so hard, not the actual firing, but ruining my draft day. It's better than Christmas.

I thought Brandan Wright would be the shit too. Was so stoked when the Warriors got him. Also hated Steph Curry but I'm glad I was wrong on that one.

I was wrong about Steph Curry and couldn't be happier about it. Thought he was a pure SG stuck in a PGs body. Non-lotto picks I jocked for that draft class were Taj Gibson, Jodie Meeks, Sam Young, AJ Price. I'll take 4 of those 5 panning out lol. Loved Blair since the first time I saw him when he was a freshman. As for lotto guys I was desperate for my W's to get Tyreke. I liked Harden, Thabeet and Johnny Flynn a lot too. Always knew Gerald Henderson would be a bust.

I remember before the 2008 draft arguing with Denny about Kevin Love vs. OJ Mayo. I was on the Kevin Love side of that argument. I ripped Joe Alexander at every opportunity and completely NAILED that one. I thought DJ Agustin was the shit. I was all over Jeryd Bayless' jock too. I also remember tons of arguments with people who thought Beasley was a pure 4 in the NBA while I knew he was a tweener and could never start at the 4 for a winning team. I hated Brook Lopez and thought Robin would turn out better lol. Loved JJ Hickson at NC State and knew he'd be a good pick for whoever got him. I didn't think Ryan Anderson would stick in the league even though I'm a big Cal fan. I thought Kosta Koufos would be a steal! Was also big on the Donte Green bandwagon.

For 07 I was really into BWright, Acie Law, Spencer Hawes, Al Thornton, Nick Young, Jared Dudley, Glen Davis, Dereck Byars, as well as the guys everyone liked (Oden, Durant, Horford, Conley, etc.). I HATED Joakim Noah.

In 06 I was saying Tyrus Thomas sucked ass and LMA should be the #1 pick. Jocked Kyle Lowry and Shawne Williams very hard. Was really into Bobby Jones and Craig Smith too.

For 05 I always never understood how people considered Marvin Williams a lotto pick. Thought Sean May was way overrated too. Liked Granger and
    Gerald Green.

I was on the Steph Curry bandwagon from the get-go. I knew he'd be a scorer in this league. His passing is better than I thought. He still has a long way to go as a PG though.

Paul Milsap was a player I was high on for most of the year leading up to the draft. He led the nation in rebounding as a freshman and sophomore. Something that usually translates to the NBA. It's the same reason why Kenneth Faried is #1 on my list in this years draft.

I was so-so on Oden. His physical tools and athletic ability is/was rare but he was very robotic and his post game was very green. Aside from the national title game he looked like Kendrick Perkins.

I was wrong on Rondo. I wouldn't have guessed he'd be this good of a passer.

I was really excited about Russell Westbrook, but was shocked the Thunder picked him at 4 (I figured we have a shot at 13) I hated Steph Curry and figured he'd be a scrub, I thought Brook Lopez was going to be a scrub, I hated Ammo and I thought OJ Mayo was going to be a huge star at the 2 spot.

Jesus I remember every draft since 1970. I would not know where to begin. One that comes to mind though was the Kidd, Grant Hill and Glenn Robinson draft. I was dead on about Kidd being a star, and Robinson being one dimensional. But I was dead wrong about Hill though. He turned out way better than I thought.

My worst mistake was being dead wrong about the famous Boston/GS draft and trade of Kevin Mchale and Parrish for Joe Barry Carrol. OUCH!

I thought the Lakers were stupid for trading Norm Nixon for the draft rights of Byron Scott. (ouch again)

I was wrong about the Blazers taking Lionel Hollins over my favorite player ever..... Ronnie Lee.

But thats about it. I have been right about everything else.........

    post just got deleted. guh.

Was right on Outlaw. Still holding out hope on Webster. ;)

As far as the draft goes, I was very much for Oden over Durant. Still think he's going to have an outstanding career.
I was the most vociferous of us at the Pendy/Dante/Blair fiasco. Passing on Blair 3x in the late first/early second round for Claver, Pendy and Dante was, is and will always be a poor decision. Even if Blair's knees blow up tomorrow, he was worth a 2nd-rounder. Meanwhile, Pendy had 1/2 a season gone due to hip surgery, and almost a whole season gone from a knee injury.

I saw Gallinari light up Batum in a Euro game the year they were drafted, and thought Gallo was the better player and they were drafted in the right order. Though I thought it was a steal to get him as late as we did.

I overvalue rebounding, BBIQ, motor and long-range shooting. I undervalue "put my head down and drive 'til I get fouled" wings, tall guys who are soft, and the super-athlete. Therefore I liked Horford and Noah and Millsap and Redick and Curry and didn't like Swift, Tyrus, May, Shelden and Thabeet. I missed on Joe Alexander, partially b/c I bought into his motor, work ethic and attributed how good he got so quickly to big BBIQ...neglecting that he was just an athlete that got lucky playing for Pitt.

I liked Dwight over Okafor, but that was b/c of my Christian bias. :) Turned out ok.

I really liked Webster over Green. I wanted Deron-is-Deron over CP3, b/c CP3 had just punched a dude in the nuts and I didn't want him on the jailblazers.

I also trend toward wanting defense, PGs and C's. Wings can sort themselves out in most cases.

So this year, I kind of think Kanter can be good for us. I trust Calipari's instincts on a player over the place of his birth, though I'm sketchy about his motor/mean streak. Many scouts say he has one, but I just haven't seen any clips of him.

I wouldn't hate the Kemba pick, but I'd much rather have Jimmer than Kemba. I want Jimmer pretty badly, especially if we can get him around 10.

I'm sketchy about Biyambo and Motiejunas, but think that Vesely and Valunciunas are interesting.

Faried is definitely on the list. I'm not totally sold on Irving and I'm not sure I'd take Williams #2.

    Wrong:

I thought Brandon Roy was going to be nothing more than mediocre.
Oden over Durant was a total no brainer.
I thought Bayless would be better than he is....not that he is horrible
Adam Morrison would at least be able to contribute in the NBA

    Right:
I thought Aldridge was going to be a stud
Never pick a white center in the first round
Didn't think Webster would be anything special
    Euro picks are a waste

Joe Alexander played for West Virginia. I bought into his motor and athleticism as well.

He really wasn't that bad his rookie year. Averaged something like 15 ppg on a crappy FG% but its not uncommon for rookies to shoot poorly and especially when they're the lone scoring option on the team. Still hes a guy that should have been a 3rd option or 6th man at best. Fuck he was good at Gonzaga though...

And with Joe Alexander it was always clear to me that he would never succeed. His only move, literally the one thing he could do with the ball in his hands, was hit the turnaround J from the left baseline from about 12-15 feet out. He didn't even set it up he was just taller and jumped higher and faded away. Couldn't shoot from anywhere else on the court. Zero inside game. Didn't rebound well considering he was a PF in college. Absolutely could not pass or handle. Wasn't a positive defender in any way. Zero 3 pt range. He was WAY too small to play PF and even if he did he didn't rebound or score inside (or outiside). He had no ability to shoot or defend the perimiter let alone handle, pass, etc. if he were to play the 3. The only two things he did well were that specific shot, which would be EASILY defended by bigger, better players in the NBA and jump over people.
