    I do not, no.

    African Americans are, by and large, here as a result of slavery. There is a long and storied history of violent repression and discrimination in our country. They make up a fraction of the population of the USA. The N-word is almost (not quite, of course) singular in its hurtfulness.

    Women, on the other hand, are over half of the US population. They have challenges that men do not, for sure, but nothing approaching the difficulties faced by racial minorities, and especially African Americans, in my opinion.

    I said I don't care. I just don't find it very professional. I don't have any Facebook friends who use the term 'slut'. Some college drinking buddies? Sure, it got thrown around a bit. We just run in different circles, I guess. You're still in frat guy stage, which is cool, and I'm a bit older and more grumpy.

    So using deragatory pejoratives to decribe a woman is OK, but using one to describe a black person is not OK.

    How could this possibly be a soap box? I don't give a rip about what people say. Ed Schultz seems to be the one who compromised his own beliefs in order to save his job. If he had more talent, he could be like Howard Stern, which is my favorite radio show of all time, and say "slut", "whore", "douchebag", or any other insult he wants, all day long. Instead, Schultz is basically a dog on a leash, with his owner being NBC. They tell him when to eat, when to bark, and they can put him in the kennel if need be, which is what just happened to him.

    I actually have empathy for Schultz in this case. The guy is a misogynistic douchebag, and he gets a national forum to express his opinions, yet when he speaks what really is in his heart and mind, he is thrown under the bus, and everybody wrings their hands at how horrible he is. Truth is, he's a fairly horrible person who apparently has to wear a muzzle and play the corporate game.

    Huh? I said none of my friends use the word slut on Facebook, not that I screen them by if they use the word slut.
