From NBA.COM Tough time to be without a GM. Maybeso http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2011/06/12/eurocamp-day-2/
Depends? Who was in charge of signing Matthews? Who traded Bayless? Who traded for Wallace? If the people still here had a large role in all of those, then it doesn't matter if we don't have a GM or not. That being said, we usually sit on our hands unless we buy mid to low first round picks that stay in Europe. There are players out there for grabs, and Portland has adequate pieces to get them with the right slaes pitch
I think that Buchanan and the Blazers' staff have a solid idea of the team's needs, which is why there's no huge rush afoot by the Blazers to find a new GM before the draft. I think it's true that there's going to be more movement than usual during this pre-draft period because of the impending lockout and the uncertainties it will create. I'd be shocked if the Blazers don't make at least one big move by the end of the month.
Since you are a salesman at heart, I thought you might be one to recognize an opportunity to make a deal! I'm cautiously optimistic.
Its' going to be a tough sell, IMO though. I think there are many teams willing to trade better pieces than Portland is to try to improve themselves. Dallas for example traded many starters and role players off of their teams thinking they would improve, and it worked for them.
