He's no worse than Jackson - and came with a free lottery pick.

Cho's doing the right thing for Charlotte; I just don't see how his actions for the Bobcats translate in the least to how he may or may not have performed for Portland. I don't see any really rock-solid behaviors that could be inferred.

These are good points that I might not altogether agree with, but definitely have me worried.

Well, it proves he's capable of completing a trade - something our acting GM has never done in his life.

I don't think rebuilding with mid-lottery picks is going to yield much in terms of an impact/franchise player, but I suppose getting rid of Stephen Jackson was worth it to Charlotte.

Kind of a meh deal. Not great, not terrible, but somewhere in the middle.

They didn't add a "high" lottery pick, though. They added a mid-lottery pick.

Pritchard turned the 4th pick into the 2nd and 6th picks, basically, and added some garbage to do it.

I'd rather have the 2nd and 6th picks in a shitty draft over the 7th and 9th picks.

I'm not saying its a bad deal, I was just trying to point out that it seems like you guys are giving Cho a ton of credit mainly because he's the GM we just got rid of. Would you be giving another GM this much props for moving up in a so called weak draft? I dont think so.

Is it? Who was the last player picked wth the 7th pick who has helped his team win in a primary role?

    2010 - Greg Monroe
    2009 - Stephen Curry
    2008 - Eric Gordon
    2007 - Corey Brewer
    2006 - Randy Foye
    2005 - Charlie Villanueva
    2004 - Loul Deng
    2003 - Kirk Hinrich
    2002 - Nene Hilario
    2001 - Eddie Griffin
    2000 - Chris Mihm

Out of 11 players on this list, Deng, Nene, Hinrich are decent role players on playoff teams. Of course Hinrich and Hilario were in deep drafts. Curry looks to be a great pick, but again, it was a deeper draft than ths one.

I find the likelihood of the 7th pick in a weak draft adding much value to a future contending team very small.

Players taken with the 19th pick:

    2010 - Avery Bradley
    2009 - Jeff Teague
    2008 - J.J. Hickson
    2007 - Javaris Crittendon
    2006 - Quincy Douby
    2005 - Hakim Warrick
    2004 - Dorrell Wright
    2003 - Aleksander Pavlovic
    2002 - Ryan Humphrey
    2001 - Zach Randoph
    2000- Jamal Magloire

Two All-Stars and three very good role players/future impact players.

Comparing these two lists, I'd rather stay at 19 if it means you don't get into the Top 5.

Listing the exact picks is a waste of time.

Let's compare all of the players available at 7 against all of the players available at 19... then we can see how much more valuable that difference is.

And you'd also have compare what Jackson vs Maggette would give ya... and their $$$. So as you said, sort of a waste of our time. :)

Not really. You can find the same results as you move down the lists. Outside of the Top 5 or so, most picks seem to be hit or miss all the way into the mid-to-late 20s.

If you found this a waste of time, it's only because it shows that in recent history, there isn't much of a difference between picking 7th and picking 19th, which doesn't really discredit your qualified post anyhow.

You also posted that if you were a Charlotte fan, then you wouldn't be disappointed with this trade. I wouldn't either, but I also wouldn't be celebrating it. It's kind of a 'meh' deal, and likely isn't going to make much of a difference in the rebuilding process.

What I don't get is why some of you can't wait to see what Buchanan & the Blazers actually do before you start bitching about it. Are you afraid the Internet isn't going to work after the draft?

I'd be really impressed if Charlotte had moved into the Top 4 or 5 with this deal. Ed O. can deny it and call it a waste of time, but after the 5th pick, most drafts become a crapshoot.

It's also a bit funny how an Admin would be so upset that he would call out a poster for 'wasting time' by pointing out facts that are up for debate, but then again, I must consider the source.

Cho just guaranteed the Bobcats become contenders with this deal.

Can't you see it, eblazer? :)

    Top 4? Or top 5?

Maybe top 5, but definitely not top 9?

When you make shit up, you should at least not act precise about it. :)
