    He's just got to hit the 3 and defend. That's all we need out of a backup PG, and Patty certainly couldn't do it.

    Nah. Armon is pretty limited in his abilities.

    Nolan Smith could be a pretty decent pick. He's ready to play right now which is important imo.

    Heh.

    I think that Smith is almost certainly markedly better... he DID score 20 ppg this year in a pretty tough conference.

    But I am not convinced that he's going to be a guy that is going to be able to play backup PG at a high level any time soon.

    Darius Morris, Norris Cole, Reggie Jackson, and Josh Selby are all better prospects than Smith. God. I bet Nate talked to K from Duke and was convinced about taking him. UGh.

    Smith shot 35% from 3 as a senior. I hope he is better than that at the next level.

    He's a good defender. He actually shot better than that his freshman and sophomore years behind the arc, too (although he didn't crack 40% either season), so maybe his senior year was an aberration--unless it's because he swapped to the PG spot, and it impacts his shooting (which seems reasonable).

    College 3 % usually always translates identically to the NBA. Its one of those areas that players NEVER improve.

    Well, the 3 point line is shorter in college, so if the percentage stays the same then that means the players are either (a) unaffected by the depth of three point shots, or (b) better shooters in the NBA.

    Coming from a winning team isn't bad. Being drafted because you come from a winning team (as opposed to being drafted because you have talent/skills) is pretty bad.

    well, he has talent and skills. So, talent, skills, and winner. Coming to a tea, that doesn't neccesarily need some huge youth infusion. How often have people on here complained about the backup PG spot on the team? It's been one of the biggest "weaknesses" mentioned. And I think he fixes that, as an improvement over Mills and Johnson, pretty easily. A weakness at backup PG and backup PF. We addressed one. I wish we bought a late pick, to address the other. But though I like Faried, I can see Nolan becoming a starting PG, and can not see Faried ever starting at PF for us.
