again as a free agent since he's opting out? I think I would to secure the three point shooting and he's only 30. If Oden produces, LA stays consistent, and Roy is waived...James could sit on the three abusing teams.

I think with a hardcap coming in... Miami is in trouble to pay all these guys, they'll need young inexpensive players and Diebler, Babbit, Elliot and such may be very attractive to them...

Hell yes! He would immediately be our best outside shooter!

My thinking as well... He'd punish teams that would have to focus on Oden and LA!

Absolutely. In fact I say we do a sign and trade with Miami where we send them Babbitt and Diebler.

No. I was happy to see him leave three years ago. I certainly don't want him back now.

Did he grow 3 inches and gain 30 lbs?

What is he, 215? 220? I could pick him up. I don't think I would, however.

He could fill the gap that was Rudy's role*. At one point, he was shooting 50% from the 3-pt line. Then, he got injured and his shooting percentage went down. He also played better defense than Fernandez but that's not saying too much. All in all, an excellent role player that would blend extremely well with Felton, Wallace, Aldridge, and Oden.

*Imo, the Blazers needed less complex players like Rudy who, while a talent, required a higher pace and also, the ball in his hand.

I am shocked he played a whole season last year. (after back to back 40 game seasons)

No we have other more important needs. Vet PG and another "big". No doubt we need shooters, but It still ranks 3rd on the priority list for me.

Plus he is from Miami and he ain't leaving unless someone over pays him.

I would pick him at at minimum salary for sure, he'd be a great 10th man. But at that price I doubt he moves.

Now if we have to give him more money it depends on what the opportunity cost is; will his salary be part of a hard cap in the future? Or do we lose part of our MLE? If that is the case I would hold off on signing him until we get a backup big man and the other superior free agents find a home.

But I would put him on the roster over an Armon, Patty, or Earl Barron. Hell I'd think of cutting Babbit if we hadn't picked up his 3rd year option.

He has been injured a lot this year for Miami. If he were cheap i'd pick him up but if he costs us a lot i'd pass.

    Wes is a 40% 3 point shooter
    Jones is a 40.2% 3 point shooter
So they're pretty much the same % from three.

Isn't James Jones one of the best 3 point shooters ever?

Nope but he is a 40% 3 point shooter which makes him a commodity that is hotly sought after.
