I have no idea. I'm hoping for October, but I'm betting the players don't give in on anything until they start missing paychecks. However, I think that if it doesn't start before the end of January, the season will be canceled completely.
I'm pessimistic. Whenever it is resolved, my strongest hunch is that it will be too late to salvage the season. No pain, no gain.
The shorter the season, the better chance you get surprising results. Blazers could use any wildcard possible given this roster . . .
Well, since the poll question is "When will the season start?" it would be kinda strange for August or September to be an option.
Probably because the season doesn't start until late October. Polish up those deductive reason skills this summer, Professor!
there are two sets of questions. The thread title says "resolved", which is different then poll question. I went by the thread title and not the poll. You seem to be an ass. Maybe you should start polishing your ass hole act during the summer.
I read somewhere that many NBA owners were/are also NHL owners during their last stike that lasted the entire year. I wouldn't be surprised if these same owners spilled the beans on how lucrative it was for them long-term to lock the players out an entire year to get what they as owners want. I hope I'm wrong cause a year without my Blazers will be rough......
The optimist in me says "December" ... realisticaly? Jesus, I have no idea. The two sides seem pretty damn far apart and this is something they've literally had years to begin working out. A NHL style lockout wouldn't surprise me.
I'm really hoping the owners bring non-guaranteed contracts to the NBA. I realize they put it out there and took it off the table already. I just hope they put it back on the table. I'm so tired of athletes (not necessarily taking about Blazers or even NBA players) playing out of their minds to get a big paycheck and then slacking off once the ink dries. They need to play up to the contract they signed otherwise they should be cut. I don't care what percent of revenue the players and owners agree on. I just want to see the players keeping their end of the bargain (playing up to the contract they sign) considering in the end it's really the fans that pay them.
It's my fault that you can't read a poll question? Do you just skim the headlines in the paper to get your news? Anyhow, there is no way the season starts until February, at the very earliest. The problem for the players is that they can't afford to miss many checks, while most of the owners will be fine missing a season. At some point, the union will either cave, or we'll see it disbanded, with some players begging for the season to start.
Last time I expected there to be no season, and I was surprised when Stern announced, if it's not settled within a week, I'm calling off the season. Suddenly both sides came to an agreement. So I'll vote for January, like last time.
One would assume they would be the same question. Oh no, I get my news in the mass emails that the Liberal Leaders of America send to me. I read somewhere that some of the players (not sure how many) will still be getting checks until November. It was on NBAtv. My guess is the ones that will suffer the most (due to having no money coming in) are the ones who have the quietest voice and no power. You know, kind of like real life.
In that case, I meant the option to be "October", which means no games missed. Sorry for the vagueness.
