The Blazers are trying to get out of the contract with the Game. If they do it will be the death of that station. I'm disappointed, I listened to the station every day mostly for Blazer's news. I don't blame the station for going to AM if they aren't making enough money they have to do what's best for the their business. Unfortunately for them they cut off a good chunk of their audience south of Portland by going to AM. They've had some good shows like Wheels and Lund but also have two of the worst shows with Chad and Canzano. As annoying as Kenny was he did have some good contacts and was able to deliver some behind the scene news.
And trying to low ball a salary isn't considered a form of cancelling the show. "Hey, wheels, we think your show is great, but we think it is better when we are paying you less." Yeah, ok. They survive, because I know many people that like the espn shows and issac and suke. I personally dislike both, but there is a lot more national coverage on that station.
Chad is a Rome wanna be. Lund was the best, and who can blame him? SF is a bigger market and with the lockout there will be nothing to talk about for 8 months.
Since Chad has been on his own he's knocked that Rome crap off and has become pretty good. He's better than Cowherd on 1080. He's become so annoying since he made the jump to ESPN.
Absolutely. I think there different ways to do it. Papa Joe Chevalier was opinionated but wasn't a douche. Personally I want a radio host to create the topics, ask the tough questions, but be open minded about the answers. They don't have to be always right. Present both sides. You can be critical and question players/GM's without the new trend of bashing everyone. We love to build them up to tear them down. Why is everything these days such an extreme? They think it creates higher ratings. We as listeners need an alternative voice to discuss things intellegently.
I 1000% agree! Boring, doesn't know chit and has an annoying sounding voice. So they audition him and Mychal Thompson and this is who they picked?!?
Think I'd rather have one of us do the show. I mean Chad in the mourning started as some random caller on the Rome show.
My brother and I used to do a sports show together when we were undergrads for a campus radio station. It was mainly us arguing for an hour about sports, but it was fun, and people (usually flat-out stoned or drunk) would call in since the show was on a Saturday at 1am.
750 must be praying for the NBA season to go on, or else they're going under. And yes... Dave Smith is hella boring.... so far.
He's too much of a Canzano kiss ass and all he likes to talk about is soccer. They should have spent the money and hired Mychal Thompson.
Thompson would have only been able to do the show temporarily because of his job with the Lakers. Michael Holton would have been a good option IMO.
