Funny, but I don't recall Dubya ever whining about 9/11 impacting the recession he inherited when he took office in front of an audience.
Pretty hard to argue against his statement, especially this part: The problem," Obama continued, "is that we've got the kind of partisan brinksmanship that is willing to put party ahead of country, that is more interested in seeing their political opponents lose than seeing the country win. Nowhere was that more evident than in this recent debt ceiling debacle."
Probably because he didn't inherit a recession. He was gifted the largest SURPLUS ever left to a new President AND a very healthy economy. He squandered both.
Lol. No one made him double Bush's spending or ignore the exponentially increasing debt because of interest.
It isn't hard at all. It's actually too easy. He's claiming the economy was going again, and the recession had passed. But in reality, economic growth was stalled / non-existent, and unemployment was soaring. It is ridiculous how incredibly partisan the guy is, and not even man enough to admit his policies have failed miserably.
That actually isn't reality, that's your peculiar glass-is-completely-empty fantasy. Here's reality: barfo
And you're arguing that those charts show our economy was cookin' and unemployment looked good? Good luck with that.
The boy who cried strawman throws out another strawman... No, I'm arguing those charts show that what you claimed was demonstrably false: Clearly from the charts, the recession was in fact over, and unemployment was coming down, albeit very slowly. barfo
barfo, the charts are wrong. That's new unemployment claims. not the unemployment rate. The true unemployment/underemployment rate is 25%. That's not a recession? Well, true, it's not. It's a depression. But I agree that rather than flat out lying to the American public, why not man up to the fact his policies were ruinous and pledge to do better...... With the exception of pure leftist sheep, no one is buying this crap. No one.
It's fine if you want to define it that way, as long as you consistently use the same definition. Feel free to present the same chart using your definition. I'm not sure what "this crap" is, so I can't say who is buying or selling it. I was responding to a couple of obvious falsehoods put forth by strawmanboy. barfo
doesn't partisanship go both ways? I mean, sure the Tea Party can be blamed for not caving unless there were spending cuts (though they eventually did), but I don't recall Obama telling the D's to just cut a bunch of stuff so there wouldn't be a deadlock. You can't have unilateral partisan brinksmanship.
barfo apparently continues to have no shame. Such a downfall ... from Producer to bitter old guy in just a year.
You mean, as long as the other side caves, then it isn't brinksmanship? So, if I demand "everyone who has served aboard a submarine must be executed", you can either give in to my demand, or you are guilty of 'brinksmanship' yourself if you resist my plan? barfo
The bottom line is that Obama's "recovery" was the poorest performing since the Great Depression. Ken Rogoff has argued that while technically it was a recovery, it wasn't in reality a recovery at all; it was just bouncing along the bottom. And what does this recession have in common with the Great Depression? The same economic philosophy to try to get out of it.
