Chael is jokes. Like comparing a Ferrari to a Ford.

    Epic card so far.

A truly fantastic PPV, including memorable SpikeTV fights. Can't ask for much more.

Re: UFC Rio: Silva vs. Okami (Aug. 27th)

Palhares/Miller was insane. Apparently Goldy and Florian don't remember the fight Mrs. Santos had with Akano where she thought the fight was stopped and did the same routine as Palhares, climbing the fence and celebrating as people looked on in confusion. Then for Miller to promptly drop Palhares with a left only to get dropped again--well shit, that is a crazy fight. Hard for DFW not to give that one fight of the night I imagine.

Tavares isn't exactly exciting but he crushed Fisher which is no easy feat. Don't know what the division has in store for him next--it is such a shark tank. There are no easy fights at lightweight. A bout with Barboza would be an easy booking if they aren't bro's. Might not see Fisher again in the UFC as it's his fourth loss in five fights.

Cane is a good offensive striker but a terrible defensive one. He left himself open yet again and was clobbered by (what seemed to be) an outmatched Nedkov. Surprising result for the Bulgarian Randy Couture, who pushes his record to a solid 12-0. A fight with a guy like Matyushenko (middle of the pack LHW) is probably next for him. Cane's lost three of four and needs to get back in the lab.

Barboza is a good striker but I can't help but feel he doesn't have all the tools to be a competitor in the LW division. He is one-dimensional but there are a lot of guys who would make good fights with him. Cerrone would be nice. Pearson is a bit disappointing. Seemed like he'd be coming into his own by now but instead his momentum keeps getting interrupted. Thought his game plan of standing with Barboza was incorrect when he seems to be solid in top position. Don't really care who he fights next.

Big Nog was getting his brain cage shaken pretty badly vs. Schaub. I was cringing a bit with every big uppercut he absorbed. Pretty amazing for him to reel off that combination and put Schaub (who I guess you could say has a suspect chin at this point) on the mat. Very important and memorable win for Minotauro fighting for the first time in Brazil. I don't know where he goes from here. Maybe the winner of Mitrione/Kongo? Schaub has to start over but will recover from this one.

Shogun's knockout of Griffin was a bit obscured. It looked like it might've been a clash of heads that wobbled Griffin but I rewound it and it looked like a left glanced off the back of Griffin's ear/behind his head and stole his equilibrium. Might be wrong. In any case it was "Good Night Irene" at that point as Shogun is one of the best finishers in the history of the sport. Great way for him to regain momentum. Would like to see him fight the loser of Jones/Rampage. Wonder if Machida is eying a rubber match? For Griffin this is a major setback. He's another guy who'd like to fight Rampage again. Might instead get Phil Davis or Alex Gustaffson if he is down for fighting sooner than later.

Finally, Okami was never really in the fight with Silva. These guys fight him so tentative. Sonnen is the only one (yeah including Hendo) who actually went after him. His counter striking is so amazing that guys just don't commit. Shocked to see Okami barely attempt one take-down even when he was in trouble. Game plans go out the window when your face is getting mashed I suppose. I suppose Sonnen is the only one close to him right now so hopefully he gets past Stann. Otherwise it might be six-eight months plus to sort out that division. Okami could fight Akiyama or the winner of Belcher/MacDonald.

Seems like Anderson wouldn't have much trouble being ready to fight for the November FOX show...

    Chael Sonnen and GSP.

Disappointed to see Okami barely go for any takedowns, thought all that training with Sonnen might of at least made this fight kinda interesting.

The UFC is on a roll lately. 133 and the Hardy/Lytle fight night were both excellent.
