They just ran a health feature on the Today show and the health expert was asked by a woman about belly fat and health implications of it. The health expert said it depended on whether it was bulky belly fat or a "muffin top".

I could imagine, by "muffin top" she's talking about the shape of it, but I can also think of other pervy meanings to it. Anyone willing to enlighten about the derivation and development of "muffin top"?

I have not researched it, but I thought muffin top referred to fat that hung out over the top of the pants. I'm not sure what 'bulky belly fat' is though.
