While, to this point, I had never really taken the time to listed to what Mr. Romney has had to say, I've gotta admit, he appeared rather impressive handling all of O'Reilly's firing-line questions this evening....everything from "Romney Care", to international policy - particularly how it relates to Iran. Good stuff. I'll be listening to him a little closer as time rolls on.
He seems like a smart guy. More worthwhile to listen to than most of the other candidates, but sadly much less entertaining. barfo
I'm not really up on the subject, but Romney was particularly critical of Obama's (non) handling of the Russia/Poland missile situation. Apparently, if President, Romney would have really been in Putin's face. In fact, he dared to say that the correct handling of that would have placed the US in a much better position to handle the potentially volatile/dangerous/critical Iranian (nuclear) situation. As I had mentioned, I'm gonna be listening more and more to all of this.
even if a Republican candidate thinks they would have handled the situation the same exact way as President Obama they're going to say they'd have handled it differently or risk alienating the base. Romney is a very stiff/cookie cutter politician, but he's bright and looks the part. If he weren't Mormon, he'd be a shoe in for the R's btw... it's Mitt STOMP
I think many will not vote for a Mormon. I can't see the Tea Party accepting him. And if they run a third party candidate against him, Obama wins by default.
You have to be a special kind of crazy to want to be president. I am a special kind of crazy - but not that particular special kind. barfo
I don't know of any cults with 14 million members worldwide (more outside the U.S. than inside). Cults are usually small in number as to be able to hide their extremism or as a consequence of it. I don't see too many cults promoting themselves the way Mormons do. http://lds.org/church/facts?lang=eng
Under those definitions, what religious organization wouldn't? That's fine if you want to classify all religion as a cult, but I'm confused why Mormons get singled out. Over 14 million members for a religion that's only existed for 181 years doesn't sound like it'll be a "small" group for very long. The United Methodist Church has 12 million members. Southern Baptists have 16+ million. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_denominations_by_number_of_members (It's Wikipedia, so take it for what it's worth).
Ahh the old ask-someone-that's-not-a-part-of-the-organization-anymore-what-the-beliefs-of-the-organization-are argument. That always goes over well. Ask someone who's had a nasty divorce for a fair assessment of their ex, see what response you get. If you want to know what Mormons teach and belief go to the official site. www.lds.org
Everything I know about the Mormon religion I learned from Southpark. http://www.southparkstudios.com/full-episodes/s07e12-all-about-mormons
D-Rock posts 5 times a year. Its always when a Mormon discussion breaks out. Seriously though, I lived across the street from a Mormon family for a long time and went to school with some. I know a lot about it. Almost everything about the way it became a religion is cult-like IMO.
