    ...and DAT...

Anyone EVER recall a group of FR like this? Interenet chatter is absolutely lit up on the true/RS FR that are coming up big time for Oregon.

    Bennett - 280 pass rating, 2 TD's, 5/6 passing
    Carson - 9 carries, 74 yards - 8 ypc
    DAT - 10 carries, 7 ypc
    Lyerla - 2 TD's
    Dungy - 1 TD

Easy win, but our FR class are really stepping up. Not just in RB/WR, but OL, defense...great to see.

They will play a key role in the success of Oregon this year and beyond.

Yeah, I don't think we're gonna miss a beat with LMJ graduating.

Is Dungy really a noteworthy prospect? I thought he signed with Oregon because of name recognition. I he was a string bean non-prospect coming out of high school. He looks fast though.

I've learned to not bet against kids that have Football in their blood lol. He might ever be a star. But I'm hoping for a DJ Davis type role by Dungy's Junior Year.

It's a great freshman class indeed.

Something that I like is if Kelly leaves in a year or two he is leaving a full cupboard. We're building a true elite program.

Dungy certainly wasn't decorated. His scout profile is a 2 star, 6'1", 170# who was described as a standout on both sides of the ball with strong instincts, hands and anticipation. His area of need is size. Started on both sides of the ball for a state champ team. He a few offers from schools like Minn, S. Florida, UCF.

Def nice to have the respected Dungy name involved in the program.

Anyone recall another recruit who came in without fanfare who came in at about 6'2" and 165#'s, with only three stars who played both ways and didn't receive many offers? None other than our very own, Jeffery Maehl.

Both have great speed and strong instincts... :)

I'd like to think Kelly is going to be around for a long, long, long time. I still remember his words why he even came to Oregon to check out the school in the first place. I'm paraphrasing, but it was something along the lines of, 'he was aware of Oregon but didn't know a lot. he started doing some research and saw how long all the coaches, assistance coaches and support staff stayed with the team and had to come and check it out to see what was going on.'

That leads me to believe he is drawn to the long term at Oregon.

hopefully how long he hung around at New Hampshire shows he doesnt just like to take off. And it really takes a "Special Place to lure him away" I think I remember him saying something like that about Oregon as well.

Personally I like him a ton, but he's an east coast guy. His family and friends are there and his culture is there as well. Were I a gambling man, I give him 2 or 3 more years here. I wish he'd stay for 20.

oh and I cant think of many Northeast schools where it wouldnt be a lateral move from here. Southeast maybe, but that isnt really his "culture"

I can't think of a NE school that wouldn't be a downgrade from Oregon. Maybe Penn State would be an upgrade? Problem there is that they are going to hire from within when JoePa's ghost finally retires.

    Rutgers? Nope
    Syracuse? Nope
    Pitt? Nope
    Boston College? Nope

There are maybe 15 FBS jobs now that are at Oregon's level in terms of facilities, boosters, and level of play.

So, then you head either west or south. Ohio State may be the best possibility, because I don't think Fickell will be their next coach. I really think Urban Meyer or even Jon Gruden would be at the top of their list, though, over Chip.

Notre Dame? Brian Kelly will get to a bowl and is recruiting well enough to stay there another 5 years.

Virginia Tech? I think Oregon is the better job, and Beamer doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Texas? No way in hell Chip would go there if Mack Brown gets run out of Austin. Plus, Texas needs to hire from within to keep the HS gravy train rolling for UT.

USC? I think Kiffin has at least 4 more years because of NCAA sanctions.

Where would Chip go? I just don't see many possibilities for him if he wants to be 'closer' to his family, or get an upgrade job.

I really don't think we will see Chip go to another college. If anything, he might want to try his luck in the pros. That's the only move I could see him making.

Nothing about Chip Kelley reminds me of somebody who wants to be a coach in the NFL.

Didn't someone on here say that he was intrigued by the idea of coaching in the NFL? I didn't see the article but I remember it being posted.
