Would it literally not make everyone giddy like a school girl if this happened and he blew out his knee?

These players are absolute idiots. Dear Lebron........You would lose every cent of your contract.....LOL

    No, for two reasons.

First, it's hard for me to wish injury on someone.
Second, there's the 0.05% chance that he does it and is legitimately good at it, and I have to hear people slobber about how he's better than Bo and Deion combined for the rest of my (his) life.

No, not everyone. I would love to see Lebron play football, although I also know he'd be foolish to do so. But someone like Dante Cunningham--who has the size and athleticism, but not the lucrative career to protect--that's who I think should give it a shot.

Maybe a better question would be: for which NBA player do you think an attempt at an NFL career might make the most sense, taking size, strength, athleticism, and NBA career prospects into account?

I think the best athletes in the world play basketball, so with that size they have a lot of potential.

But yeah going to the NFL would be stupid.

Well, you'd want a younger guy, "toolsy", who for whatever reason hasn't translated to NBA stardom.

Maybe someone like Chase Budinger? He's never going to be a star, he's been around long enough to know about what he's going to peak at, but young enough that if he switched to WR he could be a stud. Jeremy Tyler might be the same.

Or someone who's a "tweener" for the NBA b/c he's not fast enough for his size, but would wreck shop in the NFL. Maybe someone like Nathan Jawai or Big Baby for D-Line. Jason Maxiell might be a pretty good DE or OLB. Same for Carl Landry.

Of course, Krypto-Nate at DB. :) Shelvin Mack might be decent there, since he's probably destined for backup PG anywhere he goes in the NBA but with his size, strength, hops and attitude might be a good safety.

I'd have loved to see Lebron play TE in the NFL 5 years ago but nowadays I would just rather watch him play amazing basketball and root against him with a vengance.

I always wonder how many NBA players could have been great QBs. The skillset is all there.

I remember back in the late 80's or early 90's, one of the networks created a fictional football team using NBA players at the time. I remember Clyde being a reciever, and Jordan was there too, but can't remember who else. It was pretty entertaining though

Right but you don't have to be a typical pocket passer anymore.

I'm seeing what Newton is doing in the NFL, and I think various NBA players have that kind of potential.

You still have to have the threat of throwing the ball fairly accurately down field. If not, teams will line up 8 in the box and kill you.

For a guy that doesn't like to be touched much in the NBA I have a hard time believing he'd be OK with getting clocked by a linebacker coming across the middle (I'm assuming he'd be an H-back or inline tight-end given his build?). Then again, in today's NFL where you can barey breath on somebody without drawing a 15 yard penalty or a pass interference call maybe he'd be just fine ... just don't ask him to catch many balls when the game is on the line

Newton has shown he can spin the ball down the field just as well as anybody and he's mostly operating from the pocket vs. being a 2 read option guy like he was at Auburn. He may not be "typical" because he's such a freak athlete, but he's fairly typical in the way he's playing the position (aside from a few designed run plays).

Well you are simply not paying attention to skill set then. Many athletic players rely on their jumper for 60+% of their attempts. The majority of field goal attempts in the NBA are jump shots.

Also Newton was denounced here as incapable of passing the ball, well that doesn't look so smart now I would say.

I'm pretty sure his fourth quarter numbers are just fine for his career.

Well if you're joking I think that is a funny comment though.

If for one second you think any NBA player has the skill set to be a decent QB, you are crazy. Cam Newton is the perfect example. People thought he would fail miserably because of his throwing accuracy, but in the regular season he has shown so far that he can be accurate. if he wasn't, teams would load up the box. And what does athleticism and shooting jump shots have to do with throwing the ball downfield into coverage?

Newton's accuracy is average, I've watched all his games. Why do you think few NBA players have the skillset?

It seems that various NBA players have vision, Jumpshooting ability, and height. These skills should translate well into the NFL.
