That said, if the Ducks were to play LSU again on a neutral field, I think UO would still lose. And, as most of us know, the SEC is the better conference this season.

Stanford alum Condeoleezza Rice on The Bill O'Reilly Factor. They both just gave the Ducks major props!

Ted Miller Says...Oregon to New Orleans...for reals...

We're salty -- and remember kids, this defense is soft!

On the road, the Ducks held Washington to 17 points and 278 yards. That same Huskies offense scored 38 points and piled 420 yards at Nebraska and had scored at at least 30 in every game, save the visit to Stanford, when it scored 21 and gained 430 yards.

Oregon ranks 26th in the nation in scoring defense (20.78) supporting an offense that ranks last in the nation in time of possession -- by a a minute and a half. Sure, it gives up some yards, but its yards per play -- 4.79 -- is the same as Virginia Tech, which ranks 12th in the nation in total defense. In fact, the Ducks yards per play is equal to or better than 10 defenses that rank in the nation's top-25 and is comparable to five others.

Is Oregon's defense going to throttle Stanford? No. Alabama's or LSU's defense wouldn't throttle the Cardinal either.

But it's been taking notes, seeing some things that give the Cardinal trouble, watching some key injuries pile up (WR Chris Owusu, TE Zach Ertz, OT Cameron Fleming). Stanford averages 48.2 points per game and its season-low is 37.

The Ducks are going to hold Luck and the Cardinal to 30. Maybe 32.

And they are going to score 35.

Then, as the upsets and shockers pile up, and Oregon clicks in to No. 2 in the BCS standings on Dec. 4 (sending Boise State fans into an apoplectic rage), LSU will get a rematch in New Orleans.

Only it's going to be Oregon, not Alabama.

The Ducks couldn't beat LSU on a so-called neutral field. They'd certainly be hard pressed to beat the Tigers in their own backyard.

Our OL is playing a different game and take away a few turnovers....one never knows. Not sure that was much a neutral field - looked pretty healthily to favor them tiger guys.

I don't think the Ducks would lose if we played again. We made a LOT of mistakes and our O/D line had a ton of new people in it. SEC is the best Conference that's pretty much undisputed now but the fans I was talking about are the SEC fans that don't think any team is even close to the level of any of the SEC teams and there were a lot making a ton of comments in the comments section, i just found those comments quiet amusing.

You'd be surprised how much the playbook would've opened up had one of them scored a TD or made it a two score game. Both teams were playing so conservative on offense that it was like watching grass grow.

Dang, sonny, looks like you and I can finally find something we agree on! The only question to answer now is if you'll be joining us at the team hotel for our bowl game? :biglaugh: You try so hard...but fall oh so short. :devilwink:

You're glass half full, I'm glass half empty. That's fine, but you never improve if you only focus on what you do well. That's why you have your "improves" in an AAR. Otherwise everyone is just walking around jerking themselves off at how great they are.

Enlighten me. What am I trying to do exactly?

Did you ever play sports? Because, most teams that are good DO focus on what they do well, so they can do it better and improve their strengths too. Win the day, all-star. Win the day. If that means "jerking off" then by all means, knock yourself out.

I take it that's a no on the hotel. Cool. I'll send pics. It'll almost be like you're there - you know, from one standard issue sports fan homer to another! :)

Last time I checked it was your D-line playing against their O-line.

To be fair, they have been accused of being "soft and questionable." Now they're a pound smaller on average, which looks to an outsider like it spells D-O-O-M.

How does their O-line compare to UW's speed wise? I realize that Stanford is the better O-line etc. Just wondering if the Speed of the Ducks' D-line could cause them problems like it did UW's, who just couldnt keep up with the Speed rush.

Nothing that Stanford brings will even be close to the evil line size and strength that LSU has. In that case I think the Ducks have earned their blood stripes but Luck offsets that because he's 10X the QB that LSU has.

As I've said before we'll see who Luck has on the field to throw too. Injuries may be the deciding factor for the happy trees!

back when that LSU game was happening I compared the listed size of LSU's Oline to Oregon's Dline and vise versa. The results were about equal. Same was true with Auburn. Oregon has plenty of talent size & depth along their lines to hang with other elite programs... which they have.

Last I checked UW's Oline averaged 6'4 299 and they were dominated by Oregon's front 7. Talent wise they might be on a different level then UW but the size argument doesn't hold water. So sorry
