If the Blazers use their Amnesty on Roy should they eventually retire his number?

Given that Roy came along at one of the worst times in franchise history and was the spark that the fan base needed I say yes.

    Fuck no.

The ONLY numbers that should be retired by the Blazers are 22 and 32

HOFers need only apply IMO. Sabbas and Petro both made it in, but not for their work on the Blazers. Wilkins and Pippen weren't here long enough

Blazers have a set the bar pretty low when retiring numbers in the past. Compared to the ones previously retired Roy is more than qualified.

#7 will live in Infamy as a TrailBlazer, amnesty or not. Roy has by far the best highlights of any Blazer in history. There will never be another Natural #7.

That said, I don't think his day is done here. Brandon will do whatever it takes to remain a Blazer.

    He can, he will.

The fucking New York Yankees have 18 retired numbers in their 110 year history. Portland already has 11. It's ridiculous

I agree he is as deserving or more as others in the rafters, but two wrongs don't make a right

Agree. Set up a Ring of Honor for all the '77 guys. Then retire 22 and 32. Roy goes in the Ring.

Single handily restored the Trail-Blazers from a lesser known era, top 3 blazer of all time, hard to argue he doesn't belong in the rafters.

If Larry fucking Steele has a retired number its pretty hard to argue against Roy getting one.

I voted "No" because there's no "Fuck no" option.

(I actually decided to post that before reading MM's posts.)

He wasn't able to hold up in any of his five NBA seasons with the Blazers and he's been quite unsuccessful in the playoffs. Compared to a player like, say, Rasheed Wallace or Arvydas Sabonis and it's not even close.

Hopefully Roy will be a Blazer for a long time and leads the team to more success, but at this point? Fuck, no!

Sure, retire his number. And Sabonis, and Sheed and whomever. Our rafters have more guys in them than Jenna Jamison. So fuck it, what's a few more.

Then make up a new category. Call it "The Rose Garden Hall of Fame" or some shit. And only put Walton and Clyde in that one. Make a statue or some shit out front, with space for more guys to go in down the road if somebody lives up to that level.

Portland is full of hipsters anyway. So we can say, "Yeah, they retired a bunch of guys. Whatever. But we do the RGHOF. You've probably never heard of it."

No. As of today, he has not done enough to deserve a retirement.

The number is already slated to be retired for Kenny Anderson. Too bad Roy.

Rasheed and Sabonis had stacked rosters. Those two WCF Blazer teams are the deepest in our franchise history. At Roy's peak he had Steve Blake, Joel Pryzbilla and Travis Outlaw as key cogs in the rotation. Compare that to Scottie Pippen, Steve Smith, and Brian Grant. I love those trader Bob teams they were so stacked top to bottom the success wasn't just from one or two but all of the numerous guys down to the 4th guy off the bench. Roy was a top 7 NBA player the year we lost to Houston and he carried our team the entire season. He may not deserve to have a jersey retired since his reign was so short but that season of Roy was better then that of any individual Blazer since the Clyde days.

Walton and Clyde are the only two guys who should have ever had their numbers retired. Period, end of discussion. That said, the bar is awfully low for induction in Portland but at least the guys that are in have championship credentials or at least got to the finals.

If Roy had stayed healthy and had a long and productive career then I think he probably could have gotten in on merit, but guys shouldn't get their numbers retired based on woulda, shoulda, coulda

Make a "Hall of honor" type thing. Ring of fire sounds like we're giving the guys hemorrhoids.

I believe there are some players whose #'s should NOT be retired are hanging in our rafters, that said, I believe Brandon did more for our franchise and the moral of the city then a bunch of those guys. I say YES!

No. He's never gotten out of the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Love Roy....near MVP at times, but not enough longetivity or realized wins.
