It's cause it's reality to the pessimists. Just like optimists think their "everything is rosy" outlook is reality. To them Brandon and Greg have a clean slate on the injury front every year.
And then there are those that hope for the best and can expect the worst. People like you seem like you just don't want to be let down; so you expect the worst. Which one are you?
I like to think it depends on the situation. I don't expect the worst from my children, wife, career, health, etc. Maybe after so many times of being let down by something you love then you put up that imaginary wall. Where the Blazers are concerned, i am definitely in the "I don't want to be let down, so I expect the worst" category. Drafting guys with known injuries Keeping a coach that has only been out of the first round in 11 years, and never with us Seemingly not having a direction when it comes to style, players to add to the team Horrible PR moves
Sounds like you are a good husband and father. And in the end, that's really all that matters. As for the Blazers... Well I have that outlook on everything that is dear to me. The Blazers being one of them. So I take that same "optimism" you explained about your family and use it on my team. Yep my kids and wife sometimes let me down, but I always hoped for the best. Just like the Blazers. There have been many times I was let down; but I stand by them and the players. Especially those that had those "great moments" I've remembered as a fan. To me, it's even worth more than rebuilding. I don't ever want to see Roy wearing another team's Jersey, just like I hated seeing Wallace and Drexler wearing one. Even though, I know this is a business and these things happen.
My point was that optimists don't use the word reality as a tool the way pessimists do. I acknowledge my fandom is ridiculously slanted to the side of hope, but I wouldn't hide my opinion as reality.
