That's worse than the normal shitty trades we Blazer fans come up with!

holy shit...two wasted roster spots for arguably the best C in the game today.

Wait, those kinds of things always seem to happen to LA....throw in a few 1st round unprotected picks to the Lakers and then maybe it'll be fair.

Dude they can't get both. They have to give up almost all their assets just to acquire one.

    Pau/Bynum, Pau/Odom, Odom/Bynum.

I would assume Pau or Hedo would have to be part of the Deal. Nonetheless I can see Dwight going to LA.

People are just underestimating Pau Gasol. This guy is the preeminent example of scoring efficiently with few touches while being just as good as Kobe. I think Orlando should ask for him because they have far better deals than Bynum/Odom/Fisher.

I don't think people are under estimating him. He's 31, has almost 60 million left on his contract AND he's a softy.

Yes long-term it is a great move. There won't be much of a net gain this season though.

It doesn't matter what you think though, only what you can prove.

Pau is better suited to play with Kobe, and he carried the Lakers in 2010 through the post-season. In 2009 he stopped Dwight Howard and contained him well. I watched all these Lakers games anyway.

It's not about underestimating him. It's about a rebuilding team wanting anything to do with him. And his salary. Or a contending team being able to take on his salary.

Oh believe me I get it.

The fact that the Lakers can get Dwight Howard so easily should trouble other teams, and should indeed excite LA. But I am not sure they will even be better than last season. Maybe if they can keep Pau.

They should try to get Oden too. Then they can have a 3-legged center to match their 3-legged backcourt.

Ugh. I'm so sick of the 3 leg joke. Greg's dick isn't that big.

I agree with you there nic. It seems inevitable. I hope they go for C. Paul instead because I don't think he will last long health wise. But Howard wants to be there and I bet he forces their hand.

A couple of things to remember:
    1. There's a lot of hate for the Lakers around the league. When Kevin McHale was GM of the Timberwolves, he traded Tom Gugliotta for less than the Lakers were offering, just because it was the Lakers.
    2. Don't forget Memphis got Marc Gasol in that infamous deal. And don't forget that Marc Gasol had a better playoffs, and lasted longer, than Pau Gasol.

You also have to think that other GMs are like FUCK IT, I have to get something for these guys! I'm not going to be the GM that everybody will blame for not getting anything in return.

I would love to see Howard in Chicago. #1 reason is so he doesn't play for the Lakers. #2 we will only see him twice a season, unless in the finals. #3 Chicago would immediately become my favorite East Coast team. #4 They would have a legitimate shot at destroying the Miami Heat (The team I hate almost as much as the Lakers).

Well duh. Every team in the league outside of Miami would trade their second, third, and fourth best player on their roster for Dwight Howard. Assuming obviously Howard agrees to stay with new team long-term.

What a bunch of fucking pussies. Make these elite players prove they want to leave your city for drastically less money before you hand them away for pennies on the dollar.

I bet if the Nuggets kept Melo he'd probably have resigned there right now considering he could've got ~$40 million extra from them. Not that the Nuggets did bad in the trade, they got some nice players and Melo is only a maybe top20 NBA player. But Howard is the best big man in the game and that Magic franchise will be worthless for a decade without him. Hell even if he leaves at least you'd be a lottery team and could rebuild through the draft. If they trade him for overpaid Lakers garbage they will be guaranteed to have years of mediocrity.

Howard with Rose would be a scary duo. I think better than Wade and LJ. I would compare that duo to Kobe and Shaq.

The article with that rumor said best PG/C combo since Magic/Kareem. Or was it Big O/Kareem?

The Bulls would be thin at SG and SF, but they'd have Taj and Asik still.

    HUGE.

All you need are shooters and role defenders. Your scoring load would rest on Rose and Howard. Both are pretty reliable at that department.
