    Is welfare just based on income, not net worth?

    Food stamps is generally based on income but much other welfare is based on wealth.

    In this case, she was receiving housing allowances for a nice waterfront home.

    My gf and I found out who the woman was last night by doing some internet investigative work (the original news story from TV, a voter database and Google Maps) and were really proud of ourselves until we Googled her and found out that the press had released her name an hour earlier. Drat! :)

    It doesn't seem like she did anything wrong, otherwise they would charge her. She just abided by the rules. Perhaps she's quite good at filling out forms.
