Tommy Dee @TommyDeeTKB ...the Knicks have been in contact with the Hornets involving Amar'e and Chris Paul. Source calls a deal "low percentage."
Pizza Guy has more credibility than Incarcerated Bob Incarcerated Bob is a shithead. His tweets mean nothing.
it's only crap if the GMs give in. If NOH makes a crap deal to get CP3, that's on NOH. If ORL makes a stupid deal to get rid of HOward, that's their fault. If, however, they say "you're not going anywhere, and if I even hear you hinting about pouting I'll suspend you for 6 months and collect your paycheck in suspension money, and then you can take the MLE to go to NYK next summer" I'll be applauding the whole time.
all it takes is owners calling their bluff. Billups asks not to be picked up. If I'm a team, I'd bid the minimum, if I had cap space, on him. If he wants to, let him retire. A team in the east with space absolutely should. As for Paul, him ending up on the Lakers is only possible because his GM is also a retard, if he takes Martin and Scola for Paul.
There is a part of me that would love to see all these stars go to the teams the want and then get their asses kicked by the Blazers team that nobody saw coming. It will never happen that way but that is a scenario that would make all this star movement tolerable.
Nice to see we lost 1/4 of a season "negotiating" a new CBA that would prevent the players from forming SuperFriend alliances in all the big markets. Yeah, right. Last summer's LeBron Decision was just just the tip of the iceberg. The way this is going, the NBA will eventually get to the point where there will only be four or five teams with any shot at winning a championship and the other 25 teams in constant rebuilding mode as any talent capable of making them a contender that they manage to draft will flee for one of the big market SuperTeams the first chance they get. BNM
I don't think the new CBA was negotiated to prevent players from leaving as free agents to join together. Sorry if you bought into anyone saying so.
The Clippers traded Baron Davis and got rid of his contract. They don't have to pay him one freakin dime. Get it. If they had kept him and amnestied him, they still have to pay the contract. Amnesty is only good for keeping you from paying lux tax. Clippers don't pay the tax. Ever.
That's true. But from a BBall stand point, I'd take Baron + Irving over Mo + Butler, especially considering their core of Griffin, Gordon, and Jordan. Irving could have been the missing piece to put them into the hunt.
The GMs and Owners need to grow a pair. Hey Howard you wanna leave? Okay leave and we free up cap and rebuild. Hell how about we just sit your ass out for the entire season and get the best possible chance of #1 draft pick. Then you can take min MLE to a contender or get paid by a team that are worse off than the Magic. How ya like them apples?!?!
Unfortunately the NBA owns the Hornets so they'll send him to LA or NY for shittier deals, b/c it's better for the league.
I don't even know how the NBA can own a team. Total conflict of interest. I can see lawsuit by owners if something like this happens.
Yep, but that was only year one of the SuperFriends era. Would Dallas win this year if CP3 and Superman both end up in LA? If the Heattles add Billups, and possibly a servicable big man? The rape of the small market teams is only going to get worse. It used to be the Clippers were the farm team for all the other 29 teams. Cleveland and Toronto joined them last year. Now, New Orelans. Before long 85% of the teams in the league will be the farm system for the other 15%. BNM
gimme a break. then don't follow the league. everyone says the same about the Yankees, too. Nobody else has achance. Well, except for all the other teams winning the WS. An over the hill Battier and Curry joining the heat is supposed to be scary? fuck. Also, if Billups goes to the Heat, how is that raping the small markets, when he comes from NY? Nevermind, doesn't matter. He looked old last year too. Of course, everyone thought that adding Payton and malone to the Lakers was enough for them to beat the Bulls 72 win record, and the beginning of the end for all the people flocking to the big markets.
Only if teams like NY, Boston or Lakers land someone like Howard or Paul for nothing. The other stuff is just business. But lets say Lakers somehow orchestrate Howard and Turk for Artest and Bynum. That is totally fucking crazy. And the other issue is NO, owned by the NBA. First off, how in the fuck can the NBA own a team?!! Total conflict of interest. But if a move like Paul for Gasol happens, then once again that only proves the intent of the NBA.
