KC on Rip He's 33. And his game depends on motion. But if he can run around and draw attention away from Derrick and take advantage of Boozer's and Noah's passing, it could be a real plus. I like it. Hope its not Ben Wallace part 2. The salary sure won't be comparable. Rip is what we wanted from Ben Gordon, anyway.
Yeah, he's taller than Gordon I cannot state enough that this would be a HUGE upgrade at the SG position for us. A veteran with skills. He's been a winner, too.
this would be huge for yall, good luck of any of the teams with a chance in the east this season, ill be rooting for the bulls ahead of miami/boston
We should be careful when talking about decline. Hamilton had a production decline in scoring but an increase in efficiency last season -- it was actually a pretty good season for him. I think Rip Hamilton at five million for two seasons is landing quite possible the best free agent on the best possible contractual situation. You can't describe it any way other than as an unmitigated win. Let's just hope it happens. The lack of a formal announcement is worrying.
I'd be fine if we signed Hamilton too. If you look at the big picture, I think we have two doable options for SG: Make a big trade that consolidates a few useful players (Taj, Omer, Brewer, Deng, etc) into one very good SG Scoop up a veteran on the cheap for a year or two with exception money. Anything else is shuffling the deck. And given the success of last year's team, I don't blame management for being conservative with trades. Basketball wise, I think Hamilton would be a good fit. Thibs can use him in the Ray Allen role that he tried to push Korver in, but couldn't quite handle.
Rip is a great signing. I hope they talked to Houston about KMart but think Rip is the 2nd best SG that has been moved or rumored to. Detroit hasn't waived him yet.
Just not sure about Rip anymore. Also, his game isn't what I had in mind. I wanted a guy that could create his own shot and could stick the 3 all night long. Rip is a motion player that loves the mid range. And he's getting up there. I guess he's better than Bogans, but the Heat will roll us.
The Heat would have to guard Rip, which would be a big difference. Wade won't get to rest on defense or double team.
Rip got waived. Eligible for signing on Wed. But you think this wouldn't be the case with Crawford? Crawford was ineffective against us in the playoffs. Rip knows the playoffs.
Of course, k4e has a point. We need someone to spread the floor more. Luol has to step up with his threes, but you'd like the 2 g to do that as well. We can hope that DRose will have improved his percentage as well... But I still like Rip as a signing. He'll help a lot.
I think K4E has a point. Rip in his prime was never really the guy who'd take it to the hoop on the drive. He ran and ran until he got open for his shots. Sorta like Brewer's game with ability to shoot the lights out from distance. To go along with some garbage baskets inside. We talked about Mayo a few times, and I still think he's the prototype of what we need, really. A 2nd guard who can handle the ball along with all the rest of those things.
bottom line, he is hell of a lot better than Bogans. Has enough offense to keep defenders from slacking off of him. Can pass a little as well. When playing with the second unit, Korver will have better shot selections as well. Yes kk4e is right.
Now that lock out has been and gone and the new CBA is known , for me , we should be going lights out for Stephen Jackson in trade And yeah I'd give up Kyle Korver and Keith Bogans to get him for salary fill , and 2 x 1st round picks ...our 1st round pick in 2012 + our first round pick in 2014. We don't need our our own first round picks where we can get comparable value in the 2nd round and stash them in the D League or in Europe if they can't make the roster straight away We have Nicky Mirrors and the Bobs pick which is where our difference making fresh blood is going to come from to re-energize / re-invigorate this team over the next 5 years. Stephen Jackson is a 2 year short timer and will ( IMO ) gives us shitloads better function and therefore value for money than RipStick at the full MLE Better ball handler , isolation player , 3 ball shooter and better , stouter defender. We screwed the pooch in not making a play for him when the Bobs gave him away for nothing The financially challenged bucks save money making this deal - they get 2 genuine rotation players in Korver and Bogans ( the latter of which would thrive as a Skiles guy ) and they get 2 x 1st round picks for the 35 year old Stephen Jackson Deal
Noah Boozer Deng Jackson Rose bench Asik Gibson Brewer Redd ( partial MLE 2 year deal - Option after 1 ) Watson Skinner Butler Lucas the Turd Game on
