Battie re-upped with the Sixers. As you noted, Pryz is still out there as are Theo Ratliff and Etan Thomas. I'm afraid it's going to be a downgrade from Sexy.
I would take Reggie Evans over Etan Thomas , Theo Ratliff and Joel Pryzibilla If no Reggie , then Joel , if no Joel then Malik Allen, Francisco Elson , Solomon Jones and Brian Skinner in that order
He played pretty well in the Heat 4 wins. He was like a superhero compared to Bogans. Do you really think Battier is going to play a bigger role on the Heat than Rip with the Bulls?
I can't tell if you're kidding or not, because I lack the ability to sense humor, subtlety, and normal human interactions. But I do get a kick out of the kiddos at RealGm crying bloody murder because the Bulls don't have an allstar third-string point guard or fifth big man. I mean yeah, those acquisitions would be great, but how many teams have a fifth big or quality third-string point guard. I almost wish I could time machine them back to the dark post-Jordan days of the franchise so they could get a feel for what it's like to have a truly untalented franchise.
The Lakers and Celtics easily had 5 deep big men the past few seasons, and all were really good. I think the Mavericks do, too. Heck, their starting and backup C last year are both starting quality guys.
Did the Lakers even go four deep? Their supposed fourth big would have to be Theo Ratliff, Derrick Character or Joe Smith. Yikes. For that matter, does Tory Murphy or Shaq really count as going five deep. I'm sure you can find examples of teams that have gone five deep, and it certainly helped the Bulls. My point is more broad. A quality fifth big man is a luxury. The only way they really fit in your salary structure is if you somehow sign a quality veteran at the minimum or near the minimum. Maybe that will happen. But either way, it's just not that big of a deal.
Dude stop quoting him, I can't take you seriously when you do. Bill Simmons is a fan boy idiot. No disrespect meant to you Jay, just Bill. http://bkref.com/tiny/IhVxD Rip is a high-usage average-defending (at best) Shooting Guard. Battier is a defensive beast, sorry but he's better than Rip. I really liked Jason Richardson though, I think he'll be better than both. http://www.82games.com/1011/1011MEM.HTM
Nah man, in Game 3 Miller was terrible. In Game 2 he took two shots and had a usage rate of 5%. He had a couple of good games, but Battier is better and will defend much better.
I agree actually, it is just that Mike is always hurt. Shane is a mediocre upgrade but far better than no one. The Bulls are going to be a great team. But you guys have six titles, don't be greedy ok? I respect Chicago. :]
I was serious. Not in a "OMG we need a replacement for Big Sexy now!!" but if one of our bigs gets hurt, we're gonna need a serviceable backup to fill in like Kurt did
The Bulls didn't have a lot of good options at SG, and I have a hard time thinking of anyone who'd be remarkably better than Hamilton, so color me pleased. How much of Rip's nosedive the last two years was due to a bad situation? Rip has a decent history of playing for hard-ass coaches, so I don't think Thibs will be a problem. Like Bogans, Rip also satisfies the "do no harm" principle with his game, but unlike Bogans, he actually has discernible NBA skills other than not getting in the way. Welcome to the Bulls!
Well I would never doubt the Bulls and their ability to trade for another guy. Rip is also a great fit. I think Rip will be solid however, his offense has declined by his own volition. Usage-rate-to-Per ratio and TS%.
