Love, 21/15 in 27 minutes! I hate his game and all his whiteness, but this guy just puts up huge #'s! I would hate if he ever played for the Blazers! I would actually consider quitting!
A Love for Gasol trade rumor is pretty interesting. Gasol could play the 5 for the Wolves so their second best player can be on the floor. I just don't think it'll work to have Williams and Love on the floor for major minutes together. Love can play the 4 in LA, is younger, and the Lakers already are set at center with Bynum. I suppose Gasol is just a couple years too old for this to actually happen, but it is an intriguing idea.
It makes no sense for the Wolves. Their core guys are all in their early 20's and you want to spend $60m on a guy who's not too far from declining? Kevin Love and Derrick Williams are both natural PF's but if you decide to deal Kevin, their best player, it'll be for a player you can build around the other core players. Doing this for the reason that he'll make the transition easy for Rubio is dumb. I can see why the Lakers would do it but it's a pipe dream.
Why, because it would be too much of a shock to their system to actually be good? As we've learned with Brandon Roy, the guys in their early 20s could be "not too far from declining". Calling anybody on the Wolves "core guys" is a bit of a laugh. Gasol would be instantly their best player. Possibly their second best player ever. He could also play with Williams and/or Beasley. In fact, you could start Williams, Beasley and Gasol together without it being too ludicrous. You obviously could NOT do that with Love. I remember when somebody said something like "why are you keeping your best player on the bench" to Rambis (meaning Love) and he said something like "I'm not." Now, Rambis wasn't a great coach, but coach K did the same thing. Love is not a great player. He's a great numbers-producer, but he's a liability on defense. The only way you can use someone like him is if you have otherwise a great defensive team, complete with an elite shotblocker. It's a pipe dream for Minnesota. It would be the first step in rebuilding for the Lakers.
Jimmer has amazing range on his jumper. It will be interesting to see how NBA defenses adjust. At the very least, the need to guard him out to 30+ feet will spread the defense and open up things for his teammates. You certainly won't be able to double off of him. It will also be interesting to see what kind of offense the Kings run with him in the game to hide his weaknesses and take advantage of his unique ability to shoot the ball from ultra long range. BNM
I'm trying to remember the last guy that had legit 30+ range and wasn't afraid to use it. Glen Rice, maybe?
Fletcher Mackel @FletcherMackel ESPN NBA insider Chad Ford reporting that newly acquired SG Eric Gordon desperately wants out of NOLA! True or untrue I hate reading that! >>>> (Fletcher is a sports anchor in New Orleans)
As I have mentioned I have watched him quite a bit in person. I would love to see him in a Blazer Uni. A little short, (listed at 6'4" but is less) but he is built solid at 215 and plays decent D. He can shoot from everywhere.
ouch...... def missed a bad situation here fellas Ben Golliver @blazersedge Kings announce Chuck Hayes failed his physical and had his contract voided.
