I have a feeling E. Will will get decent minutes at the end of the season

Looking at the kid on court and his confidence; this kid will earn playing time. Not saying he is gonna be the next Jordan or something; but the kid just has confidence.

I really think he's gonna get better this season to force Nate to play some minutes with him. It's a little hard since Crawford, Batum and Matthews will be playing some significant minutes at 2, but maybe 5-10 minutes a game at 2 and 3.

Am I just seeing things or are you guys seeing the same thing?

been there and done that, it may happen earlier than you think as I believe he will get more of Nolan's minutes and play guard with Jamal

Ahhh okay I get it. So crossover plays point, while he plays 2?

Does not matter as long as Luke Babbit is the point-forward.

I expect it will depend on the situation. If the team they are playing looks weak or we have a nice lead (15 pts), Nate will give him some burn. I think Nate will need to see how well he does under pressure at some point though.

I'd like to see a bit (more?) of everyone before making presumptions. Remember, last year after the preseason Armon Johnson was going to get 15 mpg as a lockdown defending power PG. Now... :dunno:

That said, I'm optimistic about e-mail.

The only thing I would be concerned about is Felton and Crawford playing for their next contract. My gut tells me that minus injuries or major fatigue, guard minutes are mostly going to be split three ways between Felton, Wesley and Jamal.

Babbit better not get any minutes unless we are up by 20 points. I absolutely hate his game.

I agree with this. I look at our team and just don't see too much space available for us to see a true sample size of E. Will. Hopefully we are just good enough to blow the shit out of teams so he gets some good burn on the floor.

keep in mind the grueling schedule and fatigue and injuries. Having young fresh legs coming in who are "competent" could help win some important games. If Ewill is competent he'll get his chance I believe.

This is part of the reason I was mostly ambivalent about the Crawford signing. It's nice that he's a known quantity and you'll get some guaranteed offensive production out of him (at the cost of almost zero defense) but there's an opportunity cost for guys like Williams and not getting to see if you actually have anything in him, further delaying development and putting off until next year what could be learned this year.

then again Crawford may be a very good guy from which Ewill can learn a lot - especially on offense. Defense will be covered by Nate with his no D no play policy for the young guys. Might work out better than U think.

I have a feeling Smith > Ewill in overall "competency," but then again you shouldn't trust your feelings.

Without injuries there is barely enough minutes for Batum at the 3 and Craig Smith at the 4. I would not worry too much about Luke.

As for EWill it will be tough for him if he does not get consistent minutes. I think Crawford's versatility will allow for either Williams or Nolan to play along side him with the second unit. Obviously not in the same game. I think both will get a shot and what ever formula works best will end up getting the most minutes later in the season. Either way it will be fun to see how they progress.

If he does, it will mean that we've been eliminated from the playoffs...

That might be a little unfair, but I'm getting very much of a "gunner" vibe from Williams. Bayless got a fairly long leash, but I don't think he had the competition that Williams does. I think Nate's first instinct will be to keep the guard rotation pretty much Felton-Matthews-Crawford and possibly even some Batum in there before he'll give any of the young 'uns minutes. And of the young'uns, it'll be Nolan first just because he's slightly less out-of-control. Williams is going to have to wait for the inevitable injuries of such a compressed season.

(If Patty was here, I think he would be ahead of all but the big three, just because he can bring the ball up the court fairly reliably.)

:dunno: Sorry, but I still see Bayless 2.0. If Nate couldn't figure out how to utilize Bayless consistently (or develop him into a more well-rounded player), why would he suddenly figure it out now?
