OK, I know he can't come over, I don't even know if he's going to be any good, but damn this team could use another skilled 6'10" guy with two good knees.

I think he'd easily be our starting center.

He more than held his own against NBA bigs this past summer. He destroyed Ibaka.

This thread is pointless. No offense, Nik.

Back on topic, I've heard sort of conflicting things about his contract situation and the likelihood of him ever coming over to the NBA. Is he eligible for a mid-level deal or is he tied to a rookie scale contract? Mostly I figured Rasta or Fez would have some insight. But then again, what the fuck do I know, KS tells me this is a pointless thread and if anybody would know ...

I've been following Freeland as closely as is possible without spending any actual money, and his game seems to have dropped off a bit since the heady days of the start of the ACB season. His team continues to do well, but he's been kind of eclipsed by the center they acquired, Luka Zoric. Well, not eclipsed, but he's been getting a fair amount of the shots that used to go to Freeland.

We can't get Freeland now, but I'd be interested in targeting Rafeal Hettsheimeir. See this thread.

He's a PF. If he's starting, then LaMarcus (who is taller and heavier) is our starting center.

Hmmm.... Think I'd just leave Freeland in Europe if we have to pay him MLE money to get him over. He isn't close to as dominant as Rudy was before Rudy came over, and that didn't pan out. Now if we can bring Freeland in on a cheap rookie contract I'd be interested.

Eye of the beholder. I ended in a lot of dead ends, but I was subdued, educated, and entertained.

I see your logic, but remember the issue of need. We have a perpetual need at center due to injuries. In contrast, Rudy played the same position as our best player.

If/when Freeland comes over next year or beyond....he'll probably be a fine backup type guy. Solid fundamentals, but no skill that is outstanding for NBA level. But, he's a big and so far healthy.

We will no longer call any player a Center. Our bigs will simply be known as Post players. : )
