I love Camby and Thomas additions, but what I've noticed was our bigs inability to take contact and ram it in the hole. I think that is the missing piece. More than outside shooting (since I believe Batum, Matthews, Crawford and Felton will suffice). We need that guy to get a rebound in the paint and jam it in after being hit.

I really hope Oden can make it back. I know he will be struggling if he does, so I hope he returns sometime in February. That way he gets like 20-30 games in before the playoffs. He is the true x-factor.

I know many of us, including myself, really don't want to think about him because we've been let down so many times. But my fingers are crossed that this year changes. I hope there is a return of Oden.

The Chicago game is still lodged in the memory banks.

    The game before his injury:

    13 pts
    20 rebs
    4 blks

    Chicago game:

    24 pts
    12 rebs
    2 blks

His last month of basketball he was a legit low post threat and a big factor on defense.

What if what if what if...

Why the talk of February? It seems to me like after the last setback, there is not enough being said for me to get my hopes up. I would love a healthy Oden, but at this point, I think of him more as an unlikely possibility, like winning the lottery. If you buy a lottery ticket, you have a chance to win, but if you think you are going to win then you will end up being disappointed since the likelihood is so small. I would love for Nolan Smith to turn into the next Chris Paul, but the chances of that happening are so slim, it's not worth my time to even think about. Same with Oden ever coming back with the Blazers and actually playing long enough without injury to turn into the superstar he was once destined to be. There is no shortage of dreams out there, but until one becomes at least somewhat likely, then fuck it.

I thought for sure this was going to be another variation of the "Oden is a pussy" thread we see from time to time. Kind of like a "LaMarsha" thread from 3 or 4 years ago.

I just want to know what the injury is! :hairout:

Sorry, but instability of a non-weight bearing ligament is a little too vague for me.

Yeah, Oden didn't want to get injured. It is disappointing to Blazer fans but its not his fault, it doesn't mean he's a crummy person, it doesn’t mean he isn’t a hard worker. Oden doesn't deserve to be injured any more then Roy deserved to retire.

Oden was at the game, they introduced him and he made the intro tape. Seems to me like they are holding out hope he will play this season.

Btw, Greg really should delete his FB account. Literally every time he posts something about ANYTHING he receives hundreds of replies from people trolling him.

At the time of the injury, he was leading the entire league in TReb%, BLK% and FG% - dominant rebounding , defense and low post scoring - exactly what you want from a big man and exactly why he was drafted where he was. And, this was coming back off a major injury with only the equivalent of one season of NBA experience.

    If only, if only...

It's rediculous how cruel some of those people are... it's like they are just waiting for him to make an update just so they can write something nasty

Maybe I'm weird because I don't really want him to return, because I'm mostly against false hope and at this point that's pretty much what I see when I think of Oden possibly coming back for a brief stint. I want to see the team and organization (and the fans) move on and that won't happen until he signs a new contract with Miami next year.

That's a pretty silly way to look at it. He is signed - and wanting him to be back is always the right way to look at it. He either proves his worth or he is not. The team is not built around him, he is pure gravy at this point - and the investment in him was to see if he can recover. Hoping he does not come back at this point is worthless. What's the worse that can happen if he is back? He takes some of Kurt Thomas's minutes?

You want him to come back and see how he recovers and if he can stay healthy - because when he was playing - he was a game changer
