The Lakers were not just a "trio". It is called depth. Byron Scott (10+ win shares in title 5) and AC green had more win shares than Kareem at the end. Then they had Jamaal Wilkes with 10 win shares in the first title, complimented by Norm Nixon.

When Jabbar retired, they never won another championship until years later with Kobe and Shaq. He played superstar defense till the end, and it doesn't show in the stats. All the johnny-come-latelies talk about is his skyhook, but that was the least important part of his game.
