Did he put on 15lbs of muscle for this?

I guess it's not too surprising. He's injury insurance, and I wouldn't really want to play him ahead of Camby, Crazy-eyes or Rhino.

I think Chris Johnson is just happy to be on a team. And Brass rewarded him for his efforts. Just because he's not getting minutes; we are still using him in practice. I remember the article last season, where he didn't have a good job and had like 2 kids. This is good for him.

The contract he signed was somewhere between 600-800k that compared to Dleague money has to be insane. We haven't really had a good reason to play him yet, most of the teams we have played have had a big center that would push Johnson around. He'll be used later in the season when the short schedule starts to wear heavily on Kurt/Camby.

I would have liked to seen his length and energy against the Clippers. Sure, he plays out of control a bit too much, but in short stretches he could be very useful against most opponents.

Ah yes, the classic, "He's never looked leaner/buffer" training camp tall tale.

Chris Johnson is lucky to be in the NBA. I don't think he'll be complaining.

And I'm not at all concerned about getting anyone, in particular, more playing time as long as the team keeps winning.

The 15 pounds of solid muscle on Chris Johnson joke--I invented it on this board, then a week or two later some reporter copied it, then it was reported as fact. Maybe someone else on another board created it in parallel simultaneously, I don't know. It was just a natural summer thought, since every August we get a similar false report from the Blazer media.

The human toothpick has been trying for years. It's impossible for him to gain such muscle mass in anything less than about 10 years of natural aging.

I totally agree with mediocre man and ed o. Johnson sucks and is lucky to be married.

er, I mean, in the NBA.

He has butter on his hands, and weighs about as much as Manute Bol did (before he died. may he rest in peace)

I bet we see Chris Johnson get in a 25-30 min game before the end of the season

So you think Camby goes down with an injury?

Even if not - back to back situations will probably see Nate resting him against lesser competition.

Yep . . . insane schedule (OKC playing 7 games in 10 days). Our time will come when we need to give the vets a day off and let the young legs try to carry the day.

Chris Johnson was the best D-league had to offer, but in the NBA he has to establish a role to stay around. Don't know if one can get by just on shot blocking. IMO, he has to become a defensive presence and rebound. He is athletic, but don't know if he has what it takes to be a big man in the NBA. I think we will find out this year.

I actually think Johnson has some pretty decent hands.

Me, too. I liken him to a [much] less talented Jermaine O'Neal. Just too excited when he gets in the game to overcome the yips.
