after looking at tweets after the game Joe Freeman asked wallace on why he didn't play. Wallace responded with "No comment" then he pressed him and wallace says "I always want to play" THEN he asked if it was a coaches decision and said "No comment"..... now this is kinda a crazy thought but could Wallace have been traded? and had to sit out so he didn't get injured and the trade gone through? it was talked about before and to sit out for a sprained finger especially for wallace seems pretty silly to me.... did anyone else of note sit out tonight?
I wonder why he'd even be on the bench then. But I hope he was traded. He's right on the edge of being washed up. We need guys that bring it consistantly, not every once in awhile. But I bet Nate just decided to rest Wallace.....he'd probably have just gone 1-6 anyway, so why not let him ride the bench?
Nate was tired of Wallace playing like dogshit on the road? But on a more serious note, it does seem odd that something like a sprained finger would keep someone like Wallace from playing.
Maybe he was traded, but it could also be Nate's way of showing who is boss. He seems good at that, especially with players who had careers that dwarf Nate's. He tried to play mind games with Andre, and that was pathetic. For fucks sake, Andre on his worst year was better than Nate on his best. Show your vets respect, you dipshit.
I hope they bring in some frontcourt help. We need a capable backup center in the worst way. I like Rhino as the backup PF and KT can play both in short minutes. Here's a crazier thought: I know I'll get flamed for this as I've been a proponent of bringing in DeMarcus Cousins but what about JaVale McGee? He's a knucklehead who needs to be on a team of vets to keep him and check and to guide him to prevent his stupid in-game antics. He's a legit 7'2" (yes, google it) and would learn a ton from Camby. They are the worst team in the League, I don't think anyone outside of Wall is untouchable.
id like it but the only way we can make that really work at least that i can come up with is if we take blatche or lewis. blatche and mcgee for wallace works but if we have to take lewis we have to trade camby and wallace....
LOL! You just asked Mike B if Wallace was traded?!? Even if Wallace was traded Barrett isn't going to tell you anything.
Mike Barrett is commentary/PR guy. When things are bad you wouldn't think that from MB -- everything is glitter and unicorns. But that's not a knock on him. He's told what to do as far as reporting by the Blazer front office.
I have another crazy thought. Can we cut Luke Babbit already? He is the worst NBA player I've ever seen in my life! What a waste of a draft pick. Thanks for that parting gift KP.
A simpler explanation for why McMillan held out Wallace is that McMillan was overconfident and thought this would be an easy win. So he gave fewer minutes to the regulars and extra minutes to Craig Smith, Nolan Smith, and Babbitt. The regulars played with no fire from the beginning because he had told them he would do this.
I think you guys are over analyzing this. He probably wanted to play, but Nate probably got word from Jay Jensen to hold him out.
^ As we got into the hotel in Detroit late Friday night/early Saturday morning, while waiting for our bags, Jay Jenson pulled GW aside and was examining his hand. You could tell whenever Jay touched his hand it hurt real bad! His was in pain big time. You could tell he wasn't going to play right then.
So why not just say that? Why the big mystery? When a team won't say why, the normal assumption is that it is disciplinary. If Wallace was hurt, the silence was foolish.
Why not force the other team to plan for him? He probably was available, but only in case of emergency.
