another rivals quote from Chance Allen... "When I found out he was staying it had an impact but by then I had already committed to Oklahoma State," stated Allen. "I was like, 'you never know, he might stay there one more year then leave'. But then he came on his house visit and we all talked about it. He gave me a whole other idea and opinion of my future. Now it is mostly about how Bralon and I feel about this weekend. If things play out like they should, most likely we will be in Duck uniforms." STOMP
Pulled their offer to McCarthy? I find that hard to believe. McCarthy is a stud and unlike Florida we don't have any 4-5* guys at that position for the cupboard to be overloaded.
it really is possible with Chip in charge. Shittu is also very highly thought of, and a position of potential need/upgrade, but he wasnt even offered in the first place.
I think they did as well, not because they wouldn't have taken him but I've heard the coaches realized or got the feel that we had no real shot at him whatsoever. So they looked elsewhere.
Have you all read about this Chester Brown kid, a Georgia recruit? http://espn.go.com/college-football...wn-due-regents-anti-illegal-immigration-rules I hope this kid lands somewhere. I sure wish we were pursuing him. Outside of his size, I think it's a great story. MJA
Also to answer an earlier question on who would start right away, I see only Shaq starting as a true freshman if he were to come here. Armstead is the top recruit in the nation on most sites as an offensive lineman. He's dropped in rivals rankings because they know he's going to play DE where ever he goes. He needs a redshirt year to develop and learn to be a starting Pac-12 DE. That's again only speculating IF we got him. Kyle Long should start, but will have to beat out Clanton or possibly Fisher. I think he will, Long is extremely talented.
There's a lot of speculation that Oregon has a silent WR commit. The reason speculation exists is because apparently Julian Brooks was going to visit, but Oregon stopped contacting him. Again, this is just optimism but guessing that we really like our chances with Johnson, Addison, and Allen. This quote just reaffirms that.
I've got my fingers crossed, too, of course... but I think it's a GOOD sign that he didn't commit before he left his OV with Texas A&M. He's heading to TCU today. Hopefully there's still a bit of uncertainty heading into Monday. Ed O.
Don't know if these have been previously posted. If so, I apologize: Arik Article: http://blogs.sacbee.com/preps/archives/2012/01/arik-armstead-i.html Shaq Article: http://blogs.sacbee.com/preps/archives/2012/01/shaq-thompsons.html
GregBiggins Arik Armstead will announce Sunday at 3:00 PST at The House Christian Church To me, this says he is staying home and going to Cal. Just a gut feeling; either that or I am trying to prepare for the worst.
Hopkins247 After consideration, 5-star Shaq Thompson will not visit #UCLA this weekend he said. bit.ly/w6P4NN #Bruins No surprise, MJA
If he goes to Cal, I don't think we ever had a shot. It's so hard to steal kids out of someones back yard when they want to stay close to home. I don't think that announcement time really says anything about where he will commit though.
Kyle Long did start for 3 years at the colleges he went to(I go to Saddleback, same as Long's, and he did spectactular proctecting Ben Gomez, the QB, who overpassed Colt Brennan's records there despite losing 3 straight, including the bowl game to end the season). I have a feeling he'll start. He has only 1 year left of eligibilty after all. I think for Arik it will be down between UW and Ducks, and Shaq may follow him. If not, it's gonna be Cal since he went lolno at UCLA
was it a surprise when Balducci Bafaro & Tyner declared for Oregon? Sacramento is actually closer to Berkeley then Portland is to Eugene. I still feel that Cal is the school to beat for Arik and Shaq because kids tend to stay close to home but time is going to tick a little slower between now and 3PM Sunday. STOMP
Part of me hopes Thompson and Armstead end up at Cal (if UO doesn't get them), compared to UW, simply because Sark is basically in panic mode at UW. If those two end up at UW, then his gamble paid off, for now. I still think that Lupoi's #calgang shtick is going to work against him so long as he stays at UW, though. In another conference, that stuff won't matter, but in the Pac-12, the circle of recruits is pretty small in terms of schools going after them.
I'm reading that UW has no shot at Arik. I'm also reading that Shaq and Arik met up today after Shaq's visit with Chip Kelly. Wonder what they talked about hmmm.
Dawgman.com is having a meltdown right now. They are convinced that they're getting Shaq, and that there is no way that Armstead would pick UO over UW. Delusional. If UW gets them both, I admit I'll be shocked, though.
If the unthinkable for those Puppies happen, give a link to their comments and stuff. I wanna see their rage. Oh boy oh boy oh boy.
