What the hell is Aaron Brooks doing? Was his decline that rapid?

Played in China. Not allowed to join an NBA team until March.

Well could he be a serious answer to our PG problem?

I don't really think so. He's another score-first guy who's best at getting his own shot vs. creating shots for others. We really need someone who makes LMA better ... and other guys like Batum and Wesley who are far more efficient catching and shooting than pulling up off the dribble.

If we got Brooks, this place would go nuts about his shot selection. He shoots it as much as Crawford. Nobody on here will be content until we have a CP3/DWill type PG. Only 6 or 7 teams can have a legit PG in this league.

I don't have high hopes for either Smith or Williams - but at some point you have to give them a fair shot.

The team is struggling, and Felton/Crawford/Matthews are a big part of the problem.

    Here's a suggestion:

O.J. Mayo. Blazers should go after him in RFA or trade Matthews for him.

He won't make his teammates better by assisting, but he'll be an iso threat (a good one, not like Crawford) and make his teammates better by being a threat on the floor. He could break out here.

No. He's basically Patty Mills. Without the charm.

Actually, we're in probably the most PG-rich time in League history:
    Paul
    Williams
    Nash
    Rose
    Rondo
    Parker
    Westbrook (not a fan myself)
    Wall (ditto)
    Irving
    Rubio
    Ty Lawson (ditto)
    Jrue Holiday
    Stephen Curry
Mike Conley (finally playing up to his abilities)
    Brandon Jennings (likewise)

Then you've got people like Andre, Chauncey Billups, Jason Kidd, Kyle Lowry (who's slumping, but was amazing at the start of the year), Jeff Teague, DJ Augustin, Kemba Walker, Brandon Knight (who may not be a PG, but who I'd welcome onto our team) and always-efficient Jose Calderon.

The only teams (besides us) with blatantly sub-par PG play: Knicks, Lakers. Teams getting by without stellar PG play: us, Jazz, Mavs, Heat

    So what counts as "legit"?

I sort of intuitively knew that maybe half the teams in the league were getting at least something from the point guard spot ... and then when you see it in black and white that it's more like 85% and the Blazers are on the outside looking in -- yet again it really makes you wonder how a team can't even accidentally bump into a good one ... well I guess we did with Miller, since he basically tracked down the Blazers brain trust in Vegas that summer and said "hire me."

To be fair, Felton would've been on that list last year at this time, when he was playing like an almost-all-star for the Knicks. Obviously D'Antoni's system helped to hide his wildness with the ball, but it didn't make him a better shooter. He's just in a serious (SERIOUS) slump. Let's hope it's not a Nick Anderson-like slump.

The sad thing for Felton is, people here are essentially unanimous in their assertions of him being awful. No one is really making a case to keep him past this year. When nearly 100% of a fan base on a forum thinks you suck, that's bad.

    Jrue Holiday

    "Rebounds and blocks shots"

Really, this is what they had to say about a point guard???

God when he slipped to 17 I really figured the Blazers might try to go and get him. Oh well.

You don't need a lottery pick to get a difference making PG. This has always been the case.
