A water fountain is a water fountain, whether one kind is for whites only, right? Something "close to, but not exactly the same" simply isn't the same. It isn't racial segregation, it's segregation based upon sexual preference. They shouldn't segregate for any reason. A marriage can be performed in a church. It can also be performed in a Chinese temple. Why are both those OK? It can also be performed at City Hall, which has nothing to do with religion. And most importantly, it's common law that two people who live together and act like they're married are technically married before the law.

no, just the gradual liberation of what was previously thought of as sexual perversion. as more things become normalized and integrated, people will find new things to "liberate". pedophilia and bestiality...will it be far behind? not saying they're the same thing, but as a society gets more relaxed with their sexual vices, things previously viewed as taboo will have more of an understanding. Its just a natural course of human nature.

Its not segregation based on sexual preferences. There are actual biological differences. Its like saying having mens and women's restroom facilities or changing rooms at the swimming pool is similar to what the blacks went through in the 1960s.

Thought as a sexual perversion in recent times, yes, but not throughout history. Of course we never learn that in schools these days, or it isn't talked about much. Natural course of human nature is both the liberation of people and oppressing people. New laws are made and history is rewritten by the victors, forgotten until previously buried information is brought to light. A few words purposefully misinterpreted here and there in books treated as unquestioned truth. What better way to keep marginalized groups down than to tell them they've never amounted to anything in history, and their kind has always been thought of as unnatural?
I actually don't care. To me, it doesn't matter. I just don't like the groupthink on both sides of the equation and there is only one train of thought.
Like I said, its going to be the natural course of things. Pedophillia has long been historically tolerated, its a function of the taboos of society that make it so. If pedophilia was not outlawed, I believe it would be common practice in society. Its just a matter of perspective.
You've just hit the issue on the head without even realizing it: the distinction between the actual news reporting and the "talking-head opinion segments" on Fox News has become blurred to the point of incomprehension. Actual news reporting is almost immediately followed by some right-wing nutjob "explaining the issue" to the viewer, in effect telling them how to absorb the information. And the sheeple just eat it up because it's easier than actually thinking.
The taco shop across the street has one bathroom, shared by men and women (one at a time, of course). And as far as bathrooms and showers go, you've probably peed next to a gay guy and showered in front of many in your day. Segregated bathrooms aren't the panacea you might think.
I've had gay roomates in college. Its not that big of a deal to me. But you have to realize there are differences between the sexes. Its just not sexual preferences that are different, men and women are different biologically and you just can't treat them the same, otherwise I'd be at the rec center taking showers in the women's locker room.
I know the difference between a Hannity or Bill Maher or Jon Daily and the actual news people who do reports every 15 minutes. I also know the difference between Fox, which has actual news on it at least some of the time, and MSNBC which has no actual reporters.
