Larry Brown: I 'badly' want to coach again

He would do well in PDX. He's really good with mediocre talent and a lot of it.

does he have a relationship with Nike?

If we were to change our coach, I'd go with JVG.

Gundy is pretty sweet too. He's a great defensive minded coach to boot.

Van Gundy would grab for dear life onto Scott Foster's leg and bite it.

Seriously, I think his demerits are the same as McMillan's. He's a motivator but doesn't know much technique to teach them. Although unlike McMillan, he coaches toughness.

Larry Brown would be a rental. He'd lose interest in a few years and leave.

If we somehow fall ass backwards into Deron this summer, I want us to fill out the roster with vets and then get Larry Brown. If we're going on with a full rebuild (big name rookie, trading all the vets, etc), then Brown is not the kind of guy to hire. Definitely not Nate either as I want a change, but someone with a fresh perspective would be nice.

I think the ton of fail would shit himself if he found out he was going to be coached by LB again.

Then again, it's not like he's shooting rainbows under Nate.

I think any of those guys would have to come in as GM/Coach. At the very least, what smart coach would want to come here and face the no GM vacuum they'd be facing. That is not the "right situation".

I'd love Sloan. I don't care if Brown would be a "rental". So what? Rebuild (that's what he does) and move on. We'd have to fall ass backwards into Williams while keeping Aldridge and Batum before Phil "His Heinous" Jackson would even consider it. RE JVG: I agree with jlprk. Overrated, but he's a gamer.

Ya I don't mind a rental of Larry Brown either. Some of the things he teaches could help the guys develop into better long term players.

Why would he be just a rental? He coached an awful bobcats team for 3 years and would have continued coaching them had he not been fired right? We actually have talent and one of the top forwards in the league.

He did move around a lot, but his coaching career spanned 38 years. So, there's bound to be changes. Most places he stayed 3 or 4 seasons. He was in Philly for six seasons. His only one and done was the Knicks, but that was more Isiah's fault than Brown's.

In any case even if he only stays half a season, I'd rather see half a season of Larry Brown than yet another boring, predictable, disappointing half season of Nate. It sure would be nice to see an offense that involves something other than ISOs. A little player and ball movement would be nice.

Why? Pretty much everywhere Brown has gone the team he's inherited improved dramatically. It happened with the Clipps, Pacers, Philly, Detroit and Charlotte. About the only team that didn't improve under Brown was the Knicks. They were a fucking trainwreck when he got there and he was undermined by an incompetent GM with his own agenda and an idiot of an owner. Yeah, he eventually wears out his welcome, but not before seeing significant improvement in the won/loss ledger.

I agree - wait it out for Monty.

LB would have been great 10 years ago. His stays have gotten shorter and shorter, with diminishing returns.

Jeff Van Gundy? To think people squeal about NATE'S slow-down ball. There's a reason Van Gundy's been on the sidelines for so long. (And actually, I think he likes broadcasting.)

Van Gundy - no. I think it is near unanimous among Blazer fans that we are fucking sick of slow ball and do not want to see it again.

Larry Brown would be fine. He has so much basketball smarts. I think 3 years in Charlotte proves he won't bail on a team just because the situation isn't "perfect" - see, Jackson, Phil.

Sloan would be good. A steady character like McMillan. Yet, has a better offensive system he is proven to run well.

What is so good about Monty?? He doesn't even have a winning record where he's at!

Larry conveniently left out that the same team rallied to go 25-29 after he was fired under Paul Silas, and that's after losing Gerald Wallace at the trade deadline.
