Wait a minute! I was asked which teams have high draft picks and insane contracts. I was just answering him. So I get picked on for it? Do you see me saying we make a deal for their pick? I said teams with "late first rounders". There is a huge difference!
Hey Mags, here's what you want to look for when it comes to teams possibly being willing to trade their picks. -Teams that are they capped out. -Teams drafting at the back of the order. -Teams that are a player or two away from competing -A cheapskate owner who doesn't want to pay the salary of a high pick when they've got a lot of other high salary? -A team that already has a lot of youth and wants to surround their current roster with some vets. -Teams with stupid impatient owners. -A bad draft. On the flipside here's the critieria for teams that are almost never willing to trade their picks, (unless it to swap a couple of spots) -Teams that are over-the-hill -Teams that need to rebuild -Teams that have a lot of needs -A strong draft Apply these criteria to the teams you're thinking about and maybe you'll be able to figure out what makes sense or not.
you said higher picks. And mentioned Milwaukee, who is in the lottery. Milwaukee isn't going to use their pick to move Bogut. That's laughable.
You ignored the part where he said which team would be willing to move thei rpick to remove one of those salaries. Wall? Seriously? Bargs was playing very good before his injury. Amir's not a bad contract. Detroit can amnesty one of their guys. Lewis has only a partially guaranteed deal next year. Bogut? no. GS doesn't necessarily have their pick this year, Utah does(top 7 protected). So they can not move theirs.
Probably not a good idea to get tied up in Turk's contract, as others mentioned, however I completely agree with Mags that Portland needs to completely overhaul their rotation if they're building around LMA long term. You're doing LMA and the team no favors by surrounding him with guys who aren't good perimeter shooters. Hes perhaps the best post scorer in the league today, get him some fugging snipers to make teams pay for doubling or clogging the paint. Reddick is a good idea- good shooter and pretty solid defender. Perhaps I'm spoiled because I'm a GS fan but shooting isn't that difficult of a commodity to acquire in the NBA. I'm sure plenty of teams would swap Wes for a less dynamic but better shooting SG/SF. It doesn't necessarily have to be Wes that gets shipped out but Felton, Wes, and Wallace wouldn't be my ideal pieces to put around LaMarcus. Look at how the Magic and Mavs are constructed- tons of shooters surrounding a superstar player. As you all are far too aware, however, McMillan will only play a certain type of player. But even so just look at some of the guys who have been moved around lately- Brandon Rush, Shane Battier, Delonte West, etc. Role players who can play defense and will drain spot up 3's all day. Great teams a) develop these guys and b) stack their rotations with these kinds of role players.
I think John Wall is a terrible player, so yeah I think he's insane. I wouldn't even want him either. He's that insane!
It doesn't even matter if you think he's bad (he's not) because 1.) He's on a rookie scale contract. Washington can decline his last two years. He could expire this year if they wanted. 2.) He's not making nearly enough to be on an insane contract. 3.) If Portland asks for Wall, you can bet your ass the Wiz ask for LMA and LMA only.
