    Reading more into this project it looks like it could actually happen as planned. And could start next winter!

    The district has a lot of potential. A few blocks SW from the 32-floor apartment tower is this proposed (Convention Center Hotel by Weston) project up for review:

    Does anyone else want the city to implode (replace) the KOIN Tower and the First Interstate/Wells Fargo Tower? Just from aesthetics alone, both buildings are out of place against every thing else being built in the city. Though both buildings probably represent the two most iconic buildings in Portland (with the pink tower close behind), I'd rather have every thing look more unified and modern. At least bring the KOIN to it's knees. It's ugly. That blue triangular top sucks!

    I'm not an architectural guy, but am I way off in this observation? Both buildings are becoming a sore thumb/eye sore, IMO. All the new buildings in Portland are so vastly different, and they're springing up every where.

    No but I'd re-clad them just like what they did to the Wyatt Wendell building. I don't see much hope for the Koin tower as half the building (top part) are condos.

    The Wells Fargo with a similar exterior to this would make such a huge improvement on the skyline -- because it wouldn't be a huge, marble mass:

    Though, knowing how conservative the PDC is I doubt they would do anything like that because it wouldn't surprise me if the WF tower had some kind or historical protection.
