First of all, the only visible sign of the Blazers inside the court area was the Community Giving sign of McMillan, Roy, Oden, and LMA on the 3rd level. Plus, there is the Gerald Wallace mural on the lower level exit to the Commons. What a day. It was odd being at the RG as all of the news was coming out. This is the day the Blazers died. Crazy.
Yes, we're about to go through 5 years of shit as fans, though. Pretty soon, Paul Allen will only have himself to fire/get rid of/shun. What a fucking loon that guy is.
A pinwheel with no wind, except for the hot air coming out of Seattle. How long before Allen tries to move the team to the new arena they're building in SoDo?
The value of not having a GM for over a year, or the value of getting rid of the one person in the organization that was respected by the rest of the NBA? Caleb Kanales is the head coach now??? Are you fucking kidding me?? Which NBA mind is going to want to work for the fucking lunatic that owns this team? I actually think Blazer fans, at least those on this board, deserve what is coming over the next 4 years.
I don't know if your being serious or you are just stressed out and kind of down from the last few weeks. The Blazers were playing like crap, we were destined for a lottery pick and were losing Camby at the end of the season. Wallace was playing a total Jekyll and Hide game the entire season and we moved him for another deep lottery pick, he wasn't in our plans for the future anyway. We have our Franchise player, Two decent starters ,we have some decent rookies that will now get some play. We We move a stubborn coach who had lost the team and have a few very good draft picks to either trade away or do a quick rebuild. We also are appearing to have 20+ million capspace this summer to build around LA/Batum and we have taken on 2 players to test out and see if they fit our system (not likely Flynn/Habbett are both busts). As much as people have bitched about management and having no plans for the future, they came out and showed us they did. We are committed to building around LMA/Batum and what we pulled off today, as a team that wasn't headed for the playoffs, is the pure definition of a quick rebuild and it is at a perfect timing. There is going to be a change of guards in the west the next few seasons and we have made moves to be among the young guns (yet again) to displace the aging veteran group.
I think you are overvaluing this teams "reputation" as a horrible franchise to work for. If the Clippers can keep getting people to work for them year after year (some of them respected people) why can't we? The amount of people looking for jobs in the NBA is huge compared to the positions around. There can only be 32 GM's and 32 Head Coaches. No matter what an organization does you will always have quality people wanting those jobs.
This happens whenever a coach is fired one of his assistants takes over tell a real head coach can be found. Sometimes that assistant sticks around sometimes they don't. I don't get why your upset over this.
This year has been terrible. I don't think that the next four years can be any worse. At least there's some hope that the team is willing to do something other than sign older players trying to get on the other side of mediocre. Ed O.
One person did create this mess...it was a team effort. Papa G is right to blame Allen. The problem is, he should ALSO be blaming Larry AND Chad AND Nate AND the players.
