This case has become political and I have nothing to do with it.

You're right. I'll be much better served for this board if we ever get a Republican back in office. Then I can post a new thread mocking everything about that president on a daily basis. We can get this place crack-a-lackin!

Funny that people think media pushed this case and as a result charges were brought because of media attention . . . as if that were unfair.

Personally I'm glad this case got the media attention it did and fear what the result would have been if it did not get media attention. It's all a matter of perspective really.

I also want to see a fair trial . . . on both sides. Prosecution better not kiss this case away. they shoudl proceed just as if it had been some black guy who shot a white kid under the same circumstances. If not for the media, the rallies and today's access to information, this case could have taken a wrong turn.

I hope the victim gets a fair trial and isn't automatically assumed that he is some hooded black kid who deserved to be shot.

You keep pimpin' it here like the Republicans are driving some sort of cause. So you do have something to do with it. If you keep pointing fingers at the party lines, you're continuing to drive that though.

One could dive deeper into it and point the finger back at Dems. Make it something more than it really is (all based on stereotypes and faulty thinking that this whole thing is really a political issue). Generally, the media is controlled by Jews, who typically learn Democratic. So, what we hear in the media is driven by the Democrats. So, what do Democrats do? Point the finger at the Republicans to garner more support. Plus, Obama, a Democrat, has had some emphasis on controlling the media. Again, another way to point fingers at the Republicans. So it's really the Democrats pushing the issue, not the Republicans.

How's that for some over-generalization and stereotyping. You could go round-and-round pointing fingers between the parties. The fact is, it's only a political competition if you make it one and you believe it is one.

Amen. Fair trial for both sides. While I think the media plays an important role in making sure that the events that happened that day with Trayvon and Zimmerman are not overlooked and making sure that there is accountability in the process, I think the media should have given things more time before blowing this up. It really does blow this whole thing up. It's going to be difficult to find an impartial jury, for one side or the other. But that's what the media is - a shit-stirrer, and that's how the media makes its' bankroll.

Quite the opposite. I think people who push the politics in every argument are, for lack of a better (and more PC) term, retarded.

Dude, it's bantering back-and-forth. Don't take it serious/personal - at least if it comes from me.

My point is, it shouldn't be a political battle, and it's ignorant to point fingers at a political party, one way or the other, other this whole situation.

I hope this case is televised, just so it's all out in the open and in the public record.

The trial will be public record if televised or not.

True, but TV offers an instant public forum.

2nd degree murder..harder to prosecute and get a conviction. wonder the play here. if he's acquitted, you can't really retry him again .

He can either take some plea deal (maybe to a lesser charge) or risk going to trial on the murder 2 and face significant jail time if found guilty. Jury might be able to vote on lesser charges also.

He hired a good attorney from what I heard. It'll be interesting to see the law interpreted in different ways here as far as "stand your ground" is concerned. Most of the evidence seems to be circumstantial.
